No its not just you, we are just out of 18month contracts with O2, they chased us constantly18 months ago to renew with them, this time they let us go with no attempt to keep us to stay, now we are with Vodafone.sanfly0 -
Most likely ditching low spenders rather than try to keep them.
My bro phoned up in December querying end date of his 18 month contract (which is end of Jan) - he asked to go to pay and go, rather than try to offer anything, they said they can put him on pay and go but with new number.
And then confirmed in text the contract will end  - he had already taken a new contract with vodafone for 12 months (18 months too long).
Suspect they are proabably doing their sums now and working out which customers are profitable or not (or maybe they have too many customers and want to keep the regulator of their back).
Thinking about it, given the recession - they might not have the staff in retentions to deal with all the customers as well (as they would do if it country was not in recession).0 -
Am glad its not just me. I am so annoyed at them at the moment.
I have given them 2 opportunities to keep me with them ( have rang twice since said to them end my contract) and neither times they have been bothered. Have been instore 4 times too, again not bothered. Today on phone I said what well if your not prepared to price match like you did last week when I rang what deal can you offer me today on HD2? and he ignored me, both times that I asked :eek:New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

thatfabulous - you could try their online upgrade process, there is a discount of sorts available for upgrading depending upon how long you have been with them etc.0

Yes thats the o2 upgrade site - you enter your mobile and get things rolling.
Last time I had contract it was telling me I had £100 or soemthing as a credit - basically that the discount they might give you on line rental etc.0 -
Got my 18 months contract coming up for renewal. Had a fantastic deal last time which worked out at 30 pounds over 18 months for 200 XnetMins and 400 Texts plus 02--2 bolton for accepting not to have a new phone.
Looking at the activity and comments on this thread, I would not hope to receive such a retention deal again. Will start to have a look around.0 -

I don't think they have any staff!!
Every time i have called them today, I have been on hold for over half an hour.
02 are shocking. I've been with them for 6years, and i'm in the middle of trying to renegotiate an upgrade to the iphone for both myself and my wife, but they don't seem interested.
They offered me an 'ok' deal a few days ago, which i phoned back today to see if i could go ahead with. Didn't get a chance to call them back earlier than today unfortunately. But now they say if I still want that deal, i have to pay £89 for each phone!
Asked them if they were happy to lose 2 customers to a rival network, and they said there was nothing more they could do!
Just had a look at Vodafone, and they are offering almost identical deal to the one 02 offered last week, but I could really do without all the hassle of changing over
On hold right now, to see if they will price match, not holding my breath, especially as they shut at 9pm....
....just got through, they they told me 'systems are down' - can i call back in the morning....
more like, the only remaining staff they do have, have all naffed off !!
Typical.
I'm going to speak to vodafone in the morning, make sure they can offer me what i can see on the website, then call 02, and get all i need to transfer over.... gggrrr...Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

just had a search for recent news on 02 to see if they were experiencing any trouble, and discovered this..... i reckon it could be the reason why they are not encouraging any new iphone users.....
CELLULAR PHONE SERVICE O2 confirmed that its mobile data network has been stuffed up thanks to the Iphone and the Blackberry.
O2 CEO Ronan Dunne told The FT that the performance of the O2 network had been disappointing since this summer and the problem has been caused because the outfit has been unable to cope with the increasing number of mobile apps running on devices such as the Iphone.

hello im on cpw o2.. and i get a fantastic deal... which i have quoted on another thread ... its the 02 45 1200 mins 100 text unlimited internet bolt on and nokia n97 mini for 7.50ish a month...
to be honset ive been with them a long time..
my father has vodafone and mum is on o2 direct. her contract is up for renewal on friday so was hoping on a deal..
if u ring vodafone u can get a better deal than their online prices... i have got my father 250 mins 500 texts and internet.. (he is a low user) and a nokia 5800 which is a medium handset for 8.50 for 15 months and then the last three months go to full price of 25.00 but hopefully we will renew it before then! so not have to pay the 25.00 pounds..
but vopdafone are briliant at giving deals.. and if you know someone else on it they can refer you to get themselves 50 pounds. i called vodafone spoke to a lovely lady about my mums contract and they could offer the same deal... but as her contract does not end till end of week and we need pac code to transfer number i will have to call again..
p.s. call several times they all offer diff deals.. and then get them to email you the deal before you say yes!!! so you have proof should it backfire!
hope it works!! good luck0
