Called this morning to see about an iphone upgrade, advisor started off with 24 month contract, but told him would like to stay on 18 months as too long for me.

Mentioned that some of my "friends" (!) had got an iphone for £31 per month but the best he could do was £33 a month for a reconditioned 3GS on 18 month contract in white - but I would like black instead! No black in stock at the moment so might give them a call later on!
    Regards, Robin.

i was told 'no black in stock' yesterday

Perhaps, I was hoping that I might get someone who needed to meet their targets this month and bend a little more for me to do a good deal.

Would love to get a 32Gb, but as you say, no black in stock at the moment and not sure what to even say without sounding cheeky when asking for one!!
    Regards, Robin.

I was on a £35/month non-iphone contract - 600min, 1000txt, free internet. Was discounted to half price until November 09.
Wasnt using the allowance fully, but was using a second hand ebay iphone.

Called retentions just now - 32gb iphone 3gs (black) for 1p on same £35/month contract for 18m. Zero haggling on my part really. I'm happy! (and they said it was in stock)(and has now been dispatched)
  • think i'll call back monday, for start of a new month....

Went for it in the end, got a reboxed 16Gb 3GS for free and £33 per month for the standard 600 mins and 500 texts.

Gutted that I couldn't get the 32Gb or the monthly tariff down lower, the advisers I spoke to said that it was to do with the budget they had to play with, prob because I have been paying £20 per month for the last 3 years or so.

Still very happy and as I type, it is "out for delivery" with DHL. Coming to Northern Ireland - that is good! Normally it takes a couple of days!

Thanks again to all for the information they shared.
    Regards, Robin.

    Hi,

Yes I had this question too. You will be able to upgrade from tomorrow. I think that it's because you need to be in your last month of your contract - which they must take a day after the month before the date you see online if that makes sense?

Try tomorrow and you will be able to upgrade.
    Regards, Robin.

I was told yesterday that they no longer do the £15 loyalty discount - so it would seem unlikely.

You can check tomorrow online what your upgrade options are. There are some good SIM only deals at the moment for £20, but there are others. If you don't like what you see then call retentions on your mobile (call 202) and just say that you looked online at the upgrade options and wondered what else o2 could offer you.
    Regards, Robin.
