How long ago did you upgrade? Was it through O2 direct or CPW O2? I'm looking for a similar deal but can't seem to get anything from them...

I've had no luck with retentions, largely because I wanted the android phone - Samsung i7500 Galaxy.

Been paying £20/mth for 600mins and 1000 texts (or something like that) with free internet. Was on O2 select with a £35 tariff reduced by £15. Basically told that there is no chance - for the phone I want it's going to be something like £40 on 24 month plan and that was from retentions guy.

So - off to T-mobile. £30/mth for HTC Hero, tonnes of mins and texts, free internet, 18 month contract.

Shame - I've always had good deals from O2.

Sounds exactly like my situation, they obviously don't care about retaining customers anymore... I received the PAC code this morning, off to T Mobile, same tariff £30 + HTC Hero.

Hi Everyone and thanks for reading my post:
My 18 months contract is due to end on the 21st, I am currently on the online 35 tariff but only paying £20 pm with free web.
I fancy the HTC Hero but as O2 only has the new HD2 I called Retention and they could only 'offer' the same tariff at £30 and £100 for the phone, or £40 and free phone.
I don't really want to pay more than I pay at the moment, so when I said that I would leave and go somewhere else, the advisor just said that he would send me a PAC code within the next few days as he could not offer me a better deal.
Personally I think it's a disgrace as I have been with O2 for over 6 years.
I am thinking of getting the Hero on TMobile for £25/30 pm but it's a 24 months.
Does anyone have any suggestion? Would Retention call me back to offer a better deal or am I too optimistic?

    cheers!

Just thought id mention my expereance... i had problems with o2 during my last contract and i was up for renual so my friend advised me to ring them up so i did last week... i selected the thinking of leaving bit and said to the guy id like to cancel my contract when its due to finish.

He was very nice asked me why and i explained all the problems id had and he said he'd totally understand if i left but hed try his very best to give me a good deal on an upgrade if i chose to stay.

I said ok he could look and he asked if i had seen any good deals so im mentioned T Mobile and i ended up getting 600min 1000 txt unlimited o2 to o2 and unlimited web, phone for free for £35.... the phone being the HTC HD2. So yes id had trouble with them but ive found just explain any problems you have had that are making you think of leaving and you should have some sucess.

Also some people have found they have ring many times. The one thing i will say dont go in to strong as i think they are abit frazzled due to the low staff levels and snow like the rest of us ... good luck.

My current contract is up next week, so it's time to start thinking about renewal deals. Yet again, this thread is very helpful in being forearmed as to what to expect - which seems to be very little!

I bought a PAYG 3GS iPhone a few months ago so I'm not after a new handset. To be honest, I'd be quite happy to continue on the £35 reduced to £20 tariff, with 600 mins and 1000 texts, plus unlimited internet usage, that I'm currently on. Not sure whether even that is likely to be offered, given what I've read here though....

One query before I call Retentions though - does anyone know whether it is would be possible to just transfer my current number to the PAYG iPhone SIM that came with the phone when i bought it, and take advantage of the free year's internet access on the iPhone SIM?

I use the phone so little for calls and messages that I could get by on PAYG without issue and probably still spend less than the £20 a month I'm currently paying.

    Any help appreciated!
  • I came out of contract in September (I'm with O2) and was on a sim only deal for about £15 per month (150mins 300texts), so I didn’t get a new phone. I was quite happy with that until on Tuesday, my other half tried to cancel his contract with TMobile (as he got a new one elsewhere) and they offered him a super new mega cheap deal in order to get him to stay! He couldn’t stay as he had already signed up elsewhere and was over the cancellation period (and he had really bad service from TMob so it was principal) Anyway, in desperation TMob said he could transfer the deal to someone else e.g. me! The deal they were offering was 300 anytime minutes, unlimited texts and a new phone (Nokia 6303 or Nokia 6600i slide) for £8 a month!!!!!

The only catch is it's a 24month deal and you would need to pay £36 to keep your old (other network)

I ummed and ahhed as my phone has been on the blink so we asked them if we could think it over and I though I’d give O2 a ring and see if they could match it, mainly because I have always had good service from them and I didn’t want to change my number.

The cheapest O2 could do was £10 a month, for that I get 75 anytime mins , unlimited O2 to O2 minutes (OH, Mum & Sis are O2) and unlimited texts. Plus a new Nokia 6303 (I'm not into fancy phones, just a basic Nokia does me)

Also they offered me a free Bluetooth car kit and a laptop broadband dongle, which the advisor hinted I could give away or sell on ebay.

So, I have reduced my monthly bill (£15 a month to £10 a month) and also got a new phone. I am in contract, but I never use my landline so I do need a phone for calls….

************************* All the above was from a post elsewhere I made on 07/01/2010.

I received my upgrade confirmation from O2. I was expecting it to confirm the new tariff that I agreed last week for 75 anytime minutes, unlimited O2 to O2 calls and unlimited texts for £10 a month, however it was a completely different tariff.

I have called O2 today to report this, and I expected them to switch me to the correct tariff on their systems, apologise for my inconvenience and that be the end of it. How wrong I was!

I am having to return the new handset, (via the post office) and then once they receive that back they will close that account and then issue me a new phone on the correct tariff!

It's the same phone I will be getting, so what a waste of time and money, for O2!

I'm sure I cant be the only customer that this has happened to (due to their own incompetence) All my phone calls are recorded (as I called them from my works number) so I was covered incase they tried to claim I was not offered the original deal.

    How frustrating!
  • Not sure if this is good, anyone please?

32GB iPhone 3Gs (Black or White) - FREE
    £35/month - 18 Month Contract
    FREE Internet & WiFi
FREE Bolt on (O2 to O2, 200 extra mins, or free weekend)

    Thanks.
  • Hi danjaq2004,

It sounds like a decent deal.
I was looking also looking at the iPhone 32Gb for £35 per month in the my upgrades section of the o2 website, but it was charging me for £279 for the iPhone itself.

Sounds good to me, my OH rang up and enquired about the iPhone and was offered the same as the website, nothing extra and would have had to pay £89 for the phone @ £35pcm over 24 months. Go for it!
