  • Called o2 this morning as i am due an upgrade as of today..
    I currently pay £35 a month on a 18 month contract and have a sony ericsson c902
    600 mins
    1000 texts
    unlimited landline

I want the Sony Ericsson Satio, on 18 month contract, I use about 800 mins a month in all and sometimes go over my txt allowance of 1000 so looking to get unlimited texts and the internet too.. the package ideally i would like is..

    800+ mins
    unlimited texts
    Unlimited Internet
    for around £35-£40 a month

Upgrades wouldn't offer me anything at all so asked to be put through to retentions and this is what the guy offered me..

    1st offer was..
    £80 for the phone
    2000 texts
    unlimited landlines
    £30 a month 24 month contract

    2nd offer was..
    £30 for the phone
    1200 Mins
    2000 texts
    Unlimited internet
    24 month contract
    £40 a month

    3rd offer was..
    £60 for the phone
    1200 Mins
    2000 texts
    Unlimited internet
    18 month contract
£45 a month for the 1st 9 months then to call customer services who will reduce my monthly bill to £35 if i dont use all of my allowances.

The 3rd offer is quite tempting, but it's £10 more a month than i'm paying now, also £60 for the phone, whereas other mobile companies offer it for free.. Not sure what to do.. Any suggestions

Hope this has helped someone else looking for a satio too as i've found it hard looking on the net for details of tariff's/deals etc o2

Hi all, I'm due an upgrade but basically just want to get a deal with the lowest 'fixed cost' (ie lowest line rental) available. I don't really use my phone much, as i have a company phone, but don't want to lose my number... i don't need a new phone or anything, just the cheapest line rental available
does anyone know the cheapest contract cost that O2 currently offer??
    thanks!

    There's a £10 a month 30 day notice Simplicity contract, with 150 minutes and 300 texts.

With the dearth of discounts on other contracts at the moment, that's very likely to be the cheapest option, unless your use is so low you consider moving to Pay&Go
  • Still haven't had any luck getting O2 to move from £30 pm for an Aino, anyone had any luck? Im trying for £25 pm. They did offer me a C902/C903 for £26 pm but those phones don't interest me. Anyone had any luck getting an Aino?

Went to Carphone Warehouse and did a straight upgrade from simplicity, got the Anio for £25mth with 600mins and unlimited texts, phone free.

Did start off to get Satio which I managed but DS found the touch screen not great for his extreme texting!
Too many children, too little time!!!

hi redux, thanks for that....the £10 p/m sounds like a good price..

with PAYG- i assume there is a minimum amount you have to top up each month?

Nope, with PAYG you topup whenever you want. I think if you are inactive for too long (~6 months?) then they will disconnect you, apparently, but I've got PAYG sims from 2007 that still worked when I used them after losing my contract phone last month, haven't used one of them since late 2008ish

An alternative to PAYG is the Three Sim Zero contract. It's credit checked, but it gets you green 0's on your credit report as long as it's paid on time, so if you setup a direct debit you can forget about it (as I did until yesterday!). It's £0 a month and you pay for what you use like PAYG, I've been on it for 4 months now and spent 10p to activate it - but as it appears on your credit report as a contract companies searching you can't tell the difference between whether you managed that well or say a £30 one. You don't have to worry about topping up either, so it's good for an emergency

the simplicity one looks good to me

i was offered 500 mins and 400 txt unlimited 3g with a e71 for £20 per month 24 month contract

    trying to better that atm

talked to orange and they have offered me

    free e71
    24 month contract
    600 mins
    unlimited texts and internet
£20 per month for 18 months then £25 thereafter

seeing if O2 will match this - does not feel likely at the moment!

The way things are worded, people sometimes think so, but actually no.

They have conditional bundle options which you get if you do top up, but otherwise it's not necessary, and the only actual requirement is to make or receive a call or send a text every 180 days, and top up any time you want. There's a vague rumour that it must be topped up within 999 days.

However, if wondering about payg, there are brands with cheaper call and text rates, such as Asda, giffgaff and Ikea Family, with 8 or 9p a minute calls. You can transfer your number by asking for a PAC and give that to the new network
  • O2 finally gave me a reasonable offer on the Aino,
    400 minutes
    1000 texts
    unlimited 02 to 02 calls
    unlimited web
    £25 pm

    Which I have accepted.
