Well.. day of finding out what 02 would do to keep me lol. Rang through twice, held on the line for an hour each time. Didn't mind though put them on loud speaker and did other things lol. But I really am quite disappointed, best they could do for me on a blackberry was 600 minutes, thousand texts and unlimited internet for £30 - or if i wanted internet and unlimited texts it would be £40 per month
I explained what I was being offered on other networks, and they couldnt do much on it - offered a bit better blackberry but not worth an extra £10/£15 per month IMO!
He did explain that it is done on a profitability thing, which is fair enough. And i found out i sent 3200 text last month, im quite shocked lol. So when I questionned why I would pay 02 this much extra (almost double) only reason he could give me was, orange is capped at 3000 texts, whereas they are true unlimited (which i dont think is true) I explained i only use a lot of txts cos i know there free! I asked if there was anything they could throw in (even pretended i was literally about to go in the orange shop and change networks lol) but they wouldnt do anything for me!
Found vodaphone VERY pushy with gettng a sale though lol.

You will find most networks that say unlimited doesnt mean unlimited, usually a cap or a fair usage policy. Get a iphone, sell it on ebay and get the phone you want.
    Kind Regards

Could cause a problem if you want full Blackberry functionality as O2 didn't used to allow you to add on the BB service bolt on to an iPhone tariff. Don't know if this has changed recently.

But yes, get the most expensive phone you can and flog it via ebay or phone recycling websites, good advice.

Hi all, just joined as I'm also due an upgrade. Currently have a 16gb iPhone 3G and I'm on a £35 p/m tariff which gets me 600 mins and 500 texts. I'm wondering what is the best deal I can get myself? Not too keen on getting the 3GS if by doing so locks me into another 18 month contract as its hardly any different to the 3G and inevitably there will be a new iPhone out in June/July which should be quite different given the 3GS is only a minor improvement on the 3G.

I see o2 offer up to £150 for you to keep your handset - does this also kickstart another 18 month contract? Also, on the £20 per month Simplicity tariff, if I were to go on this would I still be offered a decent deal come summer when I get the new iPhone or a Blackberry?
Hoping for some pearls of wisdom cheers

    Hi, Welcome.....

I'm afraid I can't help you but I'm in the same situation as you. I have the 8GB Iphone on a £35 a month same tariff as you and my contract runs out on the 12th February and I can upgrade with O2 on the 13th January but much as I love my IPhone I don't think I want to be held into another 18 or 24 month contract with the 3GS which I also think is not alot different to the 3G!!!
Have been reading reviews for the Blackberry Storm2 (which I don't think O2 do!!!) and also the new Nokia N900 (which again O2 don't do!!) and I'm getting myself confused as to what to do!! Even saw the new Google phone advertised on TV last night too!! Am really keen to get a new phone rather than a simplicity tariff (not sure I can wait till June/July for the new IPhone!!) but may end up having to change networks to get a phone that I like!!
Like I said I do like my IPhone mainly for the touchscreen, applications, internet and e-mails but I don't want to get a new phone which I am stuck with for most likely 24 months which ends up not as good as my IPhone!!! I have looked at the HTC H2 and think it is just too big!!! Not alot else for me I suppose... Any IPhone owners out there who have upgraded recently and got another phone they are happy with and can recommend or anyone else that can help me too would be much appreciated.....
    TIA
  • Just tried o2 retentions and at the moment they are closed when I dialed 202 and pressed 2,2,2 got through to some guy on his break who said they exppect to be open at 1 and shut again at 6pm tonight.

Good luck if anyone is trying to upgrade or leave o2 today!

Althought the IVR states that they're closed, except for lost/stolen phones, I got through to retentions at 9am...

I came out of contract in September (I'm with O2) and was on a sim only deal for about £15 per month (150mins 300texts), so I didn’t get a new phone. I was quite happy with that until on Tuesday, my other half tried to cancel his contract with TMobile (as he got a new one elsewhere) and they offered him a super new mega cheap deal in order to get him to stay!

He couldn’t stay as he had already signed up elsewhere and was over the cancellation period (and he had really bad service from TMob so it was principal) Anyway, in desperation TMob said he could transfer the deal to someone else e.g. me! The deal they were offering was 300 anytime minutes, unlimited texts and a new phone (Nokia 6303 or Nokia 6600i slide) for £8 a month!!!!!

The only catch is it's a 24month deal and you would need to pay £36 to keep your old (other network)

I ummed and ahhed as my phone has been on the blink so we asked them if we could think it over and I though I’d give O2 a ring and see if they could match it, mainly because I have always had good service from them and I didn’t want to change my number.

The cheapest O2 could do was £10 a month, for that I get 75 anytime mins , unlimited O2 to O2 minutes (OH, Mum & Sis are O2) and unlimited texts. Plus a new Nokia 6303 (I'm not into fancy phones, just a basic Nokia does me)

Also they offered me a free Bluetooth car kit and a laptop broadband dongle, which the advisor hinted I could give away or sell on ebay.

So, I have reduced my monthly bill (£15 a month to £10 a month) and also got a new phone. I am in contract, but I never use my landline so I do need a phone for calls….
