I spoke to o2 the other day - very strange..it was retentions
Refurb iphone 3gs,
Started off at 24 month - free phone if take out the £59 apple care - 600 mins/500 txts tariff, - £35
The above was then reduced to £32.
Then 18 month - £49 for phone, £59 apple care, 600 mins/500 txts tariff - £35.
I then asked to leave and was offered £39 for phone, £59 apple care, 600 mins/500 txts tariff - £30.
No free phone, got my PAC code - im leaving me thinks!!0 -

Been with 02 for as long as I can remember having a phone (which is about 5 years I reckon, maybe a bit longer...) and due to me not really being bothered about what phone I have I went for the simplicity deal -> £20 a month 500 mins 600 texts unlimited weekend calls. Does me fine...
Bottom line - I REALLY want an iphone now (3Gs naturally) and was wondering if its possible to wack my simplicity sim into an iphone or get a similar deal?
I reckon I'm going to have to get my haggle on, but was wondering if anyone has done something/thought something similar?0 -
So... my iphone arrived. I don't feel too impressed, think im regretting not getting the satio! But it is early days yet.
In the box the little booklet said 3G, the phone doesn't have 3gs on it but the paper from o2 says 3gs.
It has the new apps on it. But im just a bit weary as to whether its a 3gs or not. I tried going on apples website and typing in the serial number and it says it cannot be recognised. The model number how ever is a1303 which i believe is 3GS. So im not sure =/

If it has the compass it is a 3GS. Normal 3G iphones don't/can't have the compass.0 -
Does anyone know what the highest amount of minutes/untd texts you can get with O2 on a sim only deal?
I phoned yesterday to give notice for January ending contract and they said they would cancel the service immediately if I did that but still charge the rest of the term...is this new? I thought you had to give a months notice to end your contract0 -
Having read the last 8 pages of this thread with corssed fingers, I just got off the phone to O2 retentions (been with them since June 2004). Coming my way is a FREE refurb 32Gb iphone 3GS; 18 months, 600mins/500txt
All i'm paying is a one-off £59 for applecare, plus the usual £35 tariff.
Just goes to show it can be done (and that it's worth sticking with a mobile service for AGES)- you just need to know your facts, and tell them exactly what you can get elsewhere and why you therefore want to leave...0 -
I just got off the phone with a guy on O2 saying he was about to do the same thing as I was going to (buy out my contract early to get the 3GS), but he spoke to an Apple rep yesterday saying the new 4G Iphone will be out in April 2010! Now Apple usually have 12 month product cycles, so I'd have thought it would be out in June. He had no idea about tariffs, but said that with all networks having the iphone now that prices might start coming down...
Any comments?0 -

Hi all! I am currently on o2 Simplicity 20, with 600 minutes, 1000 texts and Unlimited o2 to o2 calls. I have been a customer for over 10 years. Went for Simplicity 20 as I was happy with my current handset (Nokia 6300).
Now I want to get the Samsung Omnia 2 which I think has just become available on o2. The best I can see with unlimited data usage is on mobiles.co.uk with the o2 600 Data tariff, for 24 months. I don't know whether this would be best, or should I simply pay for the web bolt-ons on my current deal and buy the handset separately? Or do you think retentions would do any better???
(Sorry, I know this is vaguely about retentions!)0
