02 Retentions thread 2

My O2 contract was up and I went through to the retentions department (i.e. not the first people you come across - ask specifically for retentions.)
I could have had the 3GS for £30 per month with 75 minutes and 125 texts for free.
I opted for the 3G for £24 per month with the same minutes/texts for free. However I coerced the nice fella into giving me unlimited texts for the same price. I realise that the minutes are fairly skimpy but can live with this as I have a home phone!
I would imagine that the unlimited texts could be applied to the 3GS also, but I begrudge paying £30 odd for the amount of usage my mobile gets.
Put it this way the headline price for an iPhone 3G for 18 months with 75 minutes and 125 texts is £29.38 per month with a fee of £96.89 for the phone.
The only issue for some people may be that these discounts were only valid on iPhone's that have been returned to O2 within 14 days of initial purchase. This would mean that the purchaser returned the phone for whatever reason and O2 check them over and resell them. They still come with the same warranty and are guaranteed to have no faults.
Otherwise the 3GS was £35pm and the 3G £30.
Hope this helps someone grab a bargain!
They are called refurbs. I know a few people who've taken them for no cost and they work perfectly. Most have not even been used, just ordered and sent back unopened. I asked Orange if they don refurbs and they said no.Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

The guy in the store said they no longer do cashback / chequeback but if you call up the account cancellations department they will sort you out.
The deal they offered me was £30 per month with £450 cashback by sending back the 6th, 12th and 18th month bill. You can send the bill back at any time - no worries if you forget and send it late.
Hope that helps someone
This is the same package I was on 18 months ago - my contract comes up for renewal in Jan so will call them tomorrow to renegotiate.
In fact I have failed to send a single bill off from the current contract - will wait for the 18th month then send off all 3 together (thank god for "relaxed cashback"!!) The last contract was too good to be true to be honest - £600 cashback! Doubt i'll get anything as good this time...
Can you tell me the name of the operator you spoke to in case I dont get as lucky with mine?
Many thanks0 -
how much minutes you need?
would htc hero on 18 months contract for £13.50 do a job for you?
you will get only 100 minutes and 100 text though.
I ordered this deal and have not posted it yet as I am still waiting for my handset to arrive to confirm I got what I have been promised.
Have you considered sites like dialaphone?0 -
I phoned them back last night and finally got what I wanted. HTC HD2 for free on an 18 month contract, 600min 1000txt + unlimited internet for £35 a month.
Happy enough with that :money:0 -
Just called them and am very happy with 02/Carphone Warehouse loyalty team - straight away offered me the redemption deal I was looking for with no faffing!
18 months (SIM only)
800 minutes (200 extra added due to special bolt-on)
1000 texts
exactly £5 a month (£540 cashback over 18 months)
So 9p a month more expensive that Dave's deal but worth it for the 200 extra minutes :-)0 -
If you're looking for SIM only loyalty deals on 02/Carphone Warehouse check out this thread:

Not sure if this helps or not, I spoke to O2 yesterday as my wifes phone had broken at the weekend, she was on a sim only deal ,about £20 month.
I was offered 100 mins, unlimited texts (as all she does is text) and a new SE C903 for £15 per month, 24mth contract.
Vodafone are doing similar deals0 -

I am due an upgrade with O2 and they have offered me a refurbished iphone 3GS 16gb with the following options:
1) 600 mins 1000 text unlimited data £25/month 24 months or £30/month 18 months
2) 75 mins 125 text unlimited data £26/month 18 months (£14 for handset)
What do you think?
lets us know how this goes as i would be very interested in option 1 myself and my upgrade date is next month,Hello Floor Make Me A Sandwich!0 -
How did you manage to get that offer? Did you call and ask for your PAC code?
It looks like a great deal to me, I'd take it, in fact I'm going to try and get that deal now!
EDIT: Did they say you would have to pay for the handset, or was that included in the monthly cost?0
