Hi all,
I've been with o2 a few years now and i'm a few days away from the end of my 18 month Iphone 2G contract. I've been paying £35 a month. Has anyone managed to upgrade to the Iphone 3GS for free? Or are they alot stricter because its the iphone?
I did ring up to cancel earlier, I didn't really ask for a new phone as I wanted to see what they offered me. All she offered me was to go on the simplicity plan @ £10 a month!
I was either looking to upgrade to the 3GS or the Palm Pre but not willing to pay a £100 - £200 for the phone too.
I just wondered if people had much luck with upgrading?0 -
I've just rang o2 about upgrading. I have no chance of getting the 3GS on my current tariff (£35 p/m). They want £184 for the 16GB version on an 18 month contract. Or £87 on a 24 month contract.
I asked about the palm pre too, they want £96 for the handset on an 18 month contract @ £35 a month. Or free on a 24 month contract. She was quite happy for me to leave too, said they just need 30 days notice.0 -

What Text/Mins/Data did they offer for £10 a month ????
Cause if it the £20 contract one (800mins/1600text/Unlimited data) it will be cheaper to accept that and then buy a iPhone on PAYG.
16GB iPhone 3GS = £440
Plus 18mth @ £10 = £180
Total = £660
Compared with
16GB iPhone 3GS = £184
Plus 18mth @ £35 = £630
Total = £814
Ok you have to fork out for the iPhone upfront.0 -
You will be hard pressed to get good deals on there most popular IPhones, even the employee / friend discounts seem restricted. The demand is so high there is no need to compete until orange and vodafone actually start selling them.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Are O2 still playing hard ball with their retentions or are they now trying to hold onto their customers now? My date is only a few weeks away now.0

You'd have thought they'd be trying extra hard to keep the customer happy, for a satisfied customer is more likely to kick up a stink with the big cheese (pardon the regrettable pun) if there was ever talk of moving o2 customer contact to the Indian sub continent.
But my experiences with o2 lately have been nothing short of dismal. I'm leaving them, too. I've just sent them an email asking them for an early disconnection figure.
I'm an eight-ten year veteran of o2 and my spend it in the region of £100-£140.00 a month. I am what they consider a "high value" customer, but they treat me with the same disdain as they do everyone else.
Things have gone way down hill at o2. Pity.
Retentions are outsourced within the UK (ie they are not employed by O2 UK but by a contractor) and largely don't give a s*** about much. Some customer service is also outsourced but very little - mostly prepay.
The outsourced call centres are an absolute nightmare to deal with - even from an internal perspective (I used to work in CS for O2)
I'm currently on an 18M retentions deal @ £20 (beats the staff deal I could've had :rotfl:) but I think I'll be off to 3 next (despite all my training on how amazing O2 are) since it seems O2 can't touch them for price (and the free Skype would be handy)0 -

The comment about the outsourced call centres are a nightmare is VERY arguable compared to o2's own customer service0 -
Has nobody had a retention deal recently?0
