The curve or bold isn't being discounted . The £15 discount isn't given anymore, I think its £10 over £45 and £5 over £35.0

To cut a long story short
My 18 month contract (400 mins / 500 texts / unlimited free web bolt on £20, plus pay £7 a month for the family bolt on) )with O2 came to an end. Rang them up and they said yea no probs keep your tariff and we will send you a nokia 5800 if you renew your contact for another 18 months
I agreed to this and phone came last week ( unopened as it was a christmas present for son). Just got a letter today and i am !!!!!!! fuming they have put me on a completley different tariff (online 30 -400 mins, 1000 texts , unlimited free web bolt on for £30) plus the £7 family bolt on. Bloody hell i only use 200 mins and 200 texts a month
i was that !!!!!!! mad ive just sent the phone back and told them to make my sim PAYG
I have been with o2 for donkeys years and havent a clue what to do next lol
I need to keep with the family bolt on as all family on it and we need it
I need to keep my number if possible
Can i go on dialaphone now and get a new contract with them on O2 as they seem to have the better offers and im looking for a good phone for my lad for xmas !!!
Anybody care to advise what to do next etc0 -
How is that a good deal? That is absolute rip off of the highest order. I'd expect them to reduce the above to at least £35 if not lower. Worst comes to the worst you can get better deals for less money on a Sim only tarriff, and if you're really after an N85 get it offline - sure, the initial outlay would be higher but you'd be saving in the long run.
Thank you Shaggy, I thought about what you wrote and decided to do some number crunching seen as I'm still in my cooling off period. I'm sure I'll get called a geek or saddo for doing this, but hey sticks and stones... :rotfl:
For the 18 months, the deal will cost me £810.
Now if I bought the phone from Nokia.com (not sure if phones from ebay are covered under the year warranty?) The phone with postage and quidco discount is £346.
If I had to pay for my broadband for 18 months, with the current offer 3 months free offer it would be £90.90. I am not going to add the quidco discount now as I already have all the equipment I don't think I would be allowed to do it all online?
£346 + £90.90 = £436.90.
Take this away from the £810 and I'm left with £373.10. That is the equivalent to £20.72 a month. As I'd have to be an o2 customer to get the broadband deal, £20 sim only would give me the maximum of 800 minutes and 1 less bolt on.
To be fair if I took of the quidco cashback (£75 for premium broadband) the broadband would cost me £15.90 so then the phone and broadband would be £361.90.
I'd be left with £448.10 which would give me £24 a month. It would be the same tariff as above and I still wouldn't be able to afford my other bolt on.
If I decided to leave o2, the o2 broadband (I'm sticking with it as it is the cheapest for unlimited usage) with the current deal, would then be 11.07 a month so £199.26 for 18 months
The total for the phone and broadband is £545.26. I'd be left with 264.74 which is £14.71 a month.
Again to be fair, I'll take off the quidco discount of £75 and then broadband would cost me £124.26. The total of phone and broadband would be £470.26 which would leave me with £339.74 or £18.87 a month.
In my search I haven't found a provider that can give me 1200 minutes, unlimited web, weekend calls and 1000 texts for £14.71 or 18.87.
*edit* Out of curiosity I went on ebay and searched the completed auctions of an unlocked n86, and the average is about £245.42 without postage.
I'd probably use Tesco £30 quid for everything tariff which is £540 for 18 months and in total it's £785.42 and that's not including home broadband or phone postage.
I'm even happier with my deal now. Thanks! :beer:Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
Just came off from first call.
The lady was rude. Looks like she never heard of politeness.
I will be coming off O2 now.0 -

It is very easy to order home broadband online and topcashback or quidco are doing a 50pounds cashback plus a 3 months free so end of the day you only pay 20 pounds over the year.
Moreover, you can also have a PAYG sim card to avail 5 gbp discount.
From your explanation you seems to be a heavy user so deal may suit you but looking at what they knocked off it does not make most of the people jumping.....
by the way o2 have been crap of late when it comes to the retention deals....as a new customer chances are that with orange or tmobile you get very nice offers. when it comes to the unlimited internet i would recommend tmobile coz they dont charge you after you exceed their 1GB usage limit.0 -
Please let me know your opinion ASAP please as i need to confirm the lady.
Nokia 5800
400 minutes 1000 text
free o2 - o2 cals
free mobile internet
free broadband standard package. (from january when my broadband packages comes to end
£25 per month for 18 months
Thanks0 -
Had several very good retention deals from O2 over the years, including free phones and 100% cash back. They can't even match 3 this time around, let alone undercut them.I might even have to pay for a phone + minutes/texts, has it really come to this?0

I will be coming off O2 now.
You'd have thought they'd be trying extra hard to keep the customer happy, for a satisfied customer is more likely to kick up a stink with the big cheese (pardon the regrettable pun) if there was ever talk of moving o2 customer contact to the Indian sub continent.
But my experiences with o2 lately have been nothing short of dismal. I'm leaving them, too. I've just sent them an email asking them for an early disconnection figure.
I'm an eight-ten year veteran of o2 and my spend it in the region of £100-£140.00 a month. I am what they consider a "high value" customer, but they treat me with the same disdain as they do everyone else.
Things have gone way down hill at o2. Pity.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Customer satisfaction seems to have severely dropped over the last 2 years, since their exclusive deal with the iPhone. Maybe they will start to improve again when they lose this.0
