Could this be the fact that others can now offer the iphone, and so O2's presumably highest/exclusive source of income is now going to be damaged?
Maybe with these announcements by Orange and Vodafone, O2 will start offering better retention deals across the board rather than solely focusing on new iphone accounts.0 -
Hopefully. But this could just be wishful thinking on my behalf, what with an imminent upgrade and the Pre in my sights!
But the Palm Pre is a large competitor to the iPhone and considering that Palm is basically a reborn company, I would imagine that they would be looking for a large number of early adopters. Perhaps some money could be had off of O2 contracts for the Pre in retentions, but I wouldn't expect anything like we were seeing from O2 a few years back.
It is, yet again, another O2 exclusive for the foreseeable future, so it could be they're going to do another 'iphone number' on us!0 -
Hi folks,
I've just sealed a Retentions deal with CPW O2 and I'd like to see what people think about it.
Free handset ( HTC Diamond 2)
400 cross-network anytime minutes per month
1000 sms per month
Unlimited web browsing (I know it's not unlimited but that's how they call it).
£20.00 per month
24 month contract
I personally think it is ok (I really like the handset and was after it!).
Opinions?
Cheers.

N.B. The one I really was after was the HTC Hero but it is not on O2.
I did some research and the HTC Diamond 2 is very similar save as per Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional instead of Google Android.

Been with o2 for 7 years now, just received my pac code today, t mobile here i come.
Terrible deals i got offered, they seemed to only want to sell me a sim only deal, for the first time ever they really did not care. I spent £30+ a month0 -
Hi
Just go my pac code and have moved over virgin mobile (200mins U/L texts £10 per month) from o2 was with them for 8 years and and would not offer me a good deal and they did not care about me moving to virgin.
So goodbye to o2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
After 1 day with my new phone I have to say that I am more than pleased with it.
Windows Mobile 6.1 is way faster and more responsive than Symbian (at least the version on my Nokia N95 8GB) and the handset is stunning and well built.
Can't wait until we Diamond 2 users get the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 (scheduled 6/10/09 but I very much doubt it will be on time...).
I just wonder how good the HTC Hero running on Android could be but never mind...
Additionally, I just found out that my HTC Touch Diamond 2 came Unlocked!
I certainly don't know why people complains so much about CPW O2. I personally get quite nice deals every time I am due an upgrade (on top of that by staying O2 I still save £5 every month from my home Broadband!).
Customer of them for over 3 years (plus another 2 to come with this new contract) and to be honest the only network that can compare to O2 in the UK is Vodafone.
T-Mobile, Orange and Three suck seriously hard (tried Orange myself and each of my housemates has T-Mobile and Three).

Got a deal today that I'm happy with. I'm a talker so the £45 tariff is the one I was after. It's 1200 minutes and 1000 texts.
I wanted the n86, and it was finally in stock today.
I was told that there was no way the tariff could be reduced so I asked them to let me have my bolt ons free, and so I have:
1200 minutes
1000 texts
unlimited weekend calls
unlimited data
home broadband
All for £45.
I used orange and vodafone as examples and told them that they were both going to let me change from unlimited landline to unlimited weekends as I ring mobiles mostly.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -

How is that a good deal? That is absolute rip off of the highest order. I'd expect them to reduce the above to at least £35 if not lower. Worst comes to the worst you can get better deals for less money on a Sim only tarriff, and if you're really after an N85 get it offline - sure, the initial outlay would be higher but you'd be saving in the long run.0 -
Even after O2 can't be bothered to keep my custom I'll be sticking with them as they are the best of a bad bunch. Oh, and they have the Iphone0
