  • man retentions are definately being a real pain recently.

its taken me 3 days to get ANY sort of deal with them, eventually I had o2 long weekends added to my account in addition to 600 mins, 1000 texts, BB unlimited and a BB Curve 8900 (one off payment of 48.something). all for 35p/m. Thoughts?

I ended up having to speak to a manager, but they were happy to let me go as a customer its only because someone verbally promised me something that I got what I wanted.

They don't though, that's the thing .

I can guarantee they do - the handset is currently out of stock through all channels at the moment hence why it may not be on the website.

    Fair do's. Orange, here I come :p
  • Hye everyone, first time poster. You guys all seem really knowledgeable and helpful, so here goes.

My o2 contract has just come to an end. I've had the N95 8GB for 18 months paying £35 pm (aswell as an extra bolt-on of £7.50 for about 6 of those and insurance at £7.50 for the first 5). I've been getting unlimited internet, 600mins and 600txts (with the extra bolt-on being unlimited texts).

I'm really keen on the new palm pre, and having just announced their pricing (similar to the iphone) I'm wondering what deals I am likely to get from retentions.
I'd be looking at any number of mins, atleast 1000txts and obviously unlimited data.
Would it be pushing it with this new handset to go in for all that, free phone aswell as £30pm, or could I go cheaper?

    Thanks!

Just push as far as you can. O2 as of late aren't particularly famous for their generous retentions deals, but now that they have lost the exculsivity to sell iPhone, it will probably be in their best interests to retain as many customers as they can. Especially considering they've probably lost a fair few because of the iPhone.
  • WOW! I won't be changing my broadband to them either now!

It's the worst case of customer mis-management I've heard of in a long while, just terrible.

You on the right thread? lol
  • as we have found recently that o2s retentions have been very poor, i was wondering if you think they will get back to the good old days again, or will the palm pre have the same marketting power as the iphone.

Probably since Orange will get the iPhone..........
  • Same deal here, rang retentions only offering a max of £5 discount on a £30 or £35 contract. They won't offer any money discount below this. Apparently the costs of the handsets have went up so they can't discount any more.

Asked for a sim only deal, all they could offer was the same £15 per month sim only as others can pick up on the website. They said some changes may come in place within the next 2 months and to try back then.
