... and paid with a DD each month (over £20)so I'm a good customer!
I agree, but that´s immaterial, since, obviously, o2 doesn´t consider you being a good and valuable customer at £20+ a month. But then again, they don´t even care about their customers paying over £100/month.........
DUS0 -
I just called to see what they could offer me and it useless!
They said they can't even do any upgrades on the C905 any more and the W995 which I asked for is minimum £35 per month, no discounts, no offers.
My PAC code is on it's way.0 -

You can't be so sure of that.
Unless 02 is evenement - don't know any network which is not under constant development.
And Operation & Maintenance is not "just" as it is really very expensive.
Having said that, we as a consumers do not need to care about it and have every right to take our business elsewhere.
ok you must of read my comment wrong as your reply isnt making sense,
I havnt said anywhere in my post that states consumers dont have the right to take their business elsewhere....?
Let me make my point clear, The networks are making money regardless of this so called market turn down, because it is well known they the networks own their network hardware = more profits as they can offer 1000 Xnet mins etc etc it is no bother to them as long as the network can take it,,.. so when a user calls up to get a (better) Retentions deal but is told some BS by sales reps about the market turn down, and how they (the network) are not making money, that is BS,
and Yes maintenance is cheap when you have X amount of millions per month coming in,0 -

But i must add hes been with O2 for 18months on the 1st contract, he did have that on Cashback from E2save... so i think that has something to do with the deal they offer you Because they know a Custormer thru E2save isnt looking to pay much on line rental,
he got the below deal 2 months ago,
nokia 5800
my friend 600 xnet mins
300 txt
O2 to O2 free
17.50£ per month 18 month contract,0 -

I agree with justpaper, if you cannot get a good deal out of O2, I encourage you to take your business elsewhere. It is the best way (if you believe the economists) of conveying your unhappiness with the deal you have been offered.
O2 have the right to not entertain the demands of customers who refuse to pay full price, just like any other business. It is their loss if these customers take their money elsewhere, and they have decided that losing this customers is OK for them. If they still make money and stay ahead of the competition, I'd say they are doing well because if they ensure most of their customers are paying full price they will have better margins than the other networks.0 -
You wonder how much it costs to service a customer on 200 or 300 minutes? I understand they would lose money if they upgraded with a new mobile but why can't they offer a decent discount for those who just want a cut in their line rental? Maybe O2 think they are in a strong enough position to force loyal customers to accept what they are given? I think the penny will drop soon enough and whoever brought in this new hardball policy will be picking up his/her p45!
they have sim only deals, which if you go for longer than a 30 day contract goes cheaper again.0 -
My brother got the below deal,

17.50£ per month 18 month contract,
E2save used to have great deals, but recently I haven't seen anything worth going for at all. I've done many cashback deals with them previously, all with out any problems.
mobiles.co.uk seems to have much better deals now, which is strange is this is another carphonewarehouse company like e2save.
I think my only option now is to transfer away from O2 to a PAYG on another network, and then I can transfer back into O2 as a new customer again. It's a bit of hassle, but the only option at the moment, as the upgrade/redemption deals are useless.0 -
I've been an O2 customer paying monthly for 6 years.
Just called to upgrade and said I could get a SE W995 free, for £20 per month from mobiles.co.uk and asked if they could come anywhere close to that - the response was "cheapest we can do is £45 per month"....!
PAC requested and another lost customer for O2!
Retentions agent didn't seem bothered or surprised that I decided to leave O2.0 -
I am curious. When you guys phone O2 Retentions, do you have to ask them what they can offer you? I phoned them this week to request my PAC - told them I wanted to transfer my number to a PAYG sim I already have, and did not say anything else. There was no discussion at all, just "OK no problem we'll text you your PAC today". I thought they'd at least try to keep me on a contract of some sort0
