Have just been offered 800 mins, 1000 texts + nokia 6500 slide (black) for £20/month (18 months) through retentions...does this sound decent compared to others? No idea really. Anyone have experience of this phone?

I have been out of contract for a few months now and just rang retentions for a new deal. I was on discount 500 before but with half price line rental and bills averaged £500 per month as I had a bolt on for texts and tended to always go over a little bit. I never used much more than 300 minutes (x-network, anytime) per month.

I have been offered 400 x-net anytime minutes, 1000 texts and unlimited 02-02 calls for £15 a month plus a new phone. Very happy with that. The phone is a Sony Ericsson k770i, quite similar to my old phone but I like those phones so it's what I wanted.

    Is that on 12 mth?

£500 or do you mean £50?

Oops! What on earth was I talking about???

It's an 18 month contract which I am ok with. And my bills averaged £25 a month previously, not £500 or even £50! :o

    Hi guys, great thread!

I've read most of the thread and noted down the best offers people got. In particular, someone's got:
    600 mins & 1000 texts
    £180 credit on bill
at a price of £15 pm

I just called the retension team and said a friend of mine got this offer recently and O2 was only prepared to go for:
    400 mins & 1000 texts
    £150 credit on bill
at a price of £15 pm

They said they did not do £180 credit anymore from this month. Can anyone confirm this? It seems a bit strange to me. They still offer a very good deal, although I'd like to push it a bit more, perhaps by asking for a PAC.

Also, they said that because I already got o2 broadband (I got it 2 weeks ago) they can't offer any discounts on broadband...

Have been offered new LG Secret, 200 mins 400 txts with unlimited O2 to O2 for £20 per month on a 12 or £15 on a 18.

What does everyone think? I wanted more minutes as I always seem to go over but now I really like this phone!

Is there anything else I can ask for which might extend my minutes, as I only occasionally go over but when I do it costs loads cause all non inclusive mins are 20p per minute. Somebody mentioned a 40 minute treat, what is that?

Not sure if this is the right place to be but here goes..

I had a job which provided me with a Nokia 6020 on O2. Job has now finished & I can keep the phone, which I'm happy with, but now have to make my own arrangements for the tarriff. Both my kids are also on O2 PAYG.

Is there any point in talking to retentions? Any tips?

just to confirm what the poster above is asking

I phoned up O2 on Tuesday (30 days before the missus' contract ends and the first day her loyalty discount is available.)

After the retentinos individual doing a lot of searching to best find a plan to match her usage- she was on a 200 mins, 250 texts tarriff for £30 the best plan for her was as follows:

400 mins xnet & 1000 texts for £15 per month. If she didn't want a handset she would get a credit of £150 on the account for a 18 month contract.

If she wanted a 12 month deal then the offer was 250 mins and 100 texts for £15 per month with £100 credit on the account.

the overall cost therefore per month is £6.67 per month.

if she wanted a handset she could get a refurb such as the 6500 classic which they would give to her for £69.99 which could be taken off the credit that they were putting on her account.

I tried pushing for the £180 credit and they confirmed they did not do that anymore.

I also tried asking for the W890 free as well as the credit as one of the original posters had done but was told that they couldn't give a free phone and the credit and that it must have been a mistake if someone had got both.

Hope this helps and did anyone get a better lower cost per month retention deal out of them?

I agree. I called the retentions team several times and all seem to be saying that they don't offer £180 credit on £15 monthly offer anymore. But they still do it for the £20 a month deal which includes 600 xnet mins, 1000 texts, unlimited O2 calls and one of the bolt ons (which could be free internet).

In the end I went for £15 deal, which suits my usage the most.
