Been with O2 since July 06.
Managed to get a good deal out of O2 today, 600 mins, 2000 text, free unlimited web browsing, unlimted O2 to O2 with a free W960i, 18 month contract for £30 - exactly what I wanted. Originally spoke to the upgrade team on Friday and best they could offer me was a refurbed N95. Asked for my PAC today and they couldn't do enough for me. Know what you want and what other providers are offering and they will be keen to keep you.
Good luck everyone!
is that on 18 mth contract?Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I just got told I should return my phone back to the store if I wanted to leave!
charming!0 -
Well, I have my new PAYG SIM and PAC code and from sometime tomorrow O2 will have lost me as a contract customer.
I spoke to three different people at O2 and they all told me they did not want to keep me.
I'm off to join 3 I think.

I got offered 600 mins, 500 text and unlimited web browsing for £25 a month with £180 credit on an 18 month deal.
Is this any good? What's the procedure during that 18 months if I want a new handset?0 -

Hi,
I was offered 600 min, 1000 text, unlimited web bolt-on for £20/month, was also giving a credit of £211.50 (for some reason O2 added VAT to the £180...), 18 month contract. They also sent me a brand new Sony Ericsson W890i, dunno why, but not gonna question it! Probably something to do with the migration from Dise to Companion.
Was on O2 400, 400 min, 200 text £22.50/month, 12 month contract.0 -

I am eligible for an upgrade from tomorrow and while I have read the very good and large threads about it, I am none the wiser towards my strategy - i.e. should I act dumb and see what the offer, play hardball and ask to be put through to cancellations, or a mixture of both.
Can someone advise what they did, and whether it worked for them?
Cheers
What I usually do is phone up a week before my contract renewal date and choose the upgrade option and then ask them what they have to offer.
On the day of your upgrade, phone up and choose the account billing section and say that you would like to obtain your PAC code, the agent should then transfer you to retensions. Once at retentions repeat that you would like your PAC code, they will then ask you why. Have an example of a deal from a competitor and hype it a little bit, they should match it! Works for me every year :-) At this point you could also ask for a reduction in your insurance and if they have an offer on O2 broadband. My insurance is £2.49/month and I was offered broadband for free but only the 8meg package...
I would say play a little dumb, and just go with the flow, but know what you want!0 -
Hi all.
I called and threatened to leave for 3 and got 600 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited web - £20 per month and £150 credit (as I have my own N95 8GB from insurance claim) which pays for the first 7.5 months
Also, they appear to have left the unlimited O2-O2 calls on my account from my previous contract = free calls to my girlfriend :T
I didn't really have to do much bargaining I just mentioned the Three deal which is pretty competitive to be honest so I suggest you use it:
Their top contract is currently £20 (£7 off until May 31st) for 1100 mins/texts (mix&match), and also you get 300 3-3 minutes. Add X-series Silver for £5pcm and get unlimited web (technically limited to 1GB pcm), unlimited Skype and messenger for free. And finally, if your girlfriend's contract is up at the same time (as mine actually was but they didn't check so you could just pretend) you EACH get 2000 more 3-3 minutes when you join 3 together. And you get a handset such as the Nokia 6500 which you can ebay for around £120+ (if you don't want it) , and £62.50 Quidco. That brings the 3 contract to a TCO over 18 months of £267.50 or £14.86 per month.
Ask O2 to beat that and you're sorted. Of course, if you don't want unlimited Web you can always ask for a different bolt- on instead. Also its worth knowing that O2's data bolt on is actually unlimited unlike other networks.
Hope this helps someone.
Now I've just got to get my girlfriend to make her mind up about what phone she wants then will try to get a decent deal with a handset0 -
I just had the "It's nearly the end of your contract" email from O2 and I can't decide what to do.
I am currently on an O2 Online 200 12 month contract with a £5/month discount (from renewing last year), 200 mins and 500 texts with 1Mb included web browsing. My minutes currently roll over and I rarely use more than the previous months 200, nor do I send more than about 400 SMS messages. Most of my usage is to my gf, who is on O2, or my parents on their land line, but I am not a heavy user
The phone I got last year would be fine for me this year too (was an XDA Trion) had I not broke it and received an XDA Stellar on insurance (the Trion would have been fine, but they didn't have any), so I am really not overly excited about upgrading the handset. Sure I could get a second Stellar or an Orbit2 to play with, but it would seem a bit wasteful.
Given I have a Stellar (and it is unlocked, so I could move network if needs be), I quite fancy moving to a tariff with unlimited data and the £20 SIM only tariff would give me 400 minutes, 1000 SMS and free calls to my gf and a further £7.50 would get me free data.
Question is - can I do better? Is it possible to get a discount on the SIM only tariff, or perhaps they will just see me as a lost and unprofitable cause and let me go onto SIM only? Or will O2 try and tempt me to take a longer tariff?
(If you can't tell, I am really inexperienced at the whole renewing of mobile contracts thing and not particularly good at bartering, so any advice is always gratefully received.... and why is there no "Hints on how to get the best renewal deal" thread stickied in this forum?)*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. I'm currently on a PAYG package, is there any chance of haggling them down on an e2save deal? (or even just getting some minutes knocked off for less £ per month?)Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
