I managed to renew my 02 broadband yesterday and get it for free. But went the long way round. I called the to say I wanted to cancel my broadband and see what I get if I renew my contract. Spoke to someone from the broadband department. The guy sounded like he was half a sleep and cancelled my broadband straight away without confirming with me. Then he put me through to sales to renew it. So sales gave me 1 year free broadband. I will pay an extra £2.50 to get the faster speed broadband (£10 one). The hassle is I will have to send back my old modem and they are sending me a new one...
Didn't have to upgrade my phone, was just getting the broadband.

Thank you. I just tried this and it worked!

Hi all, Im on the simplicity 20 tariff - getting 600mins and 500 texts and unlimited o2 to o2 calls. (only get 500 as I when I rang up and didnt renew my contract in 2007 and switched to sim free, cos it wasnt done 'online' i didnt get the 1000 everyone else gets! but that doesnt really matter to me).
I'd like to be able to go on the internet more often with my phone, but dont want it costing me a pound a day, what do you think the chances are of me getting a web bolt on added if I tell them I'm going to t mobile instead?

If you're on the £20 Simplicity tariff you can just switch the unlimited O2-O2 bolt-on to an unlimited internet plan (unless you make good use of that bolt-on, which means then you need to weigh your options :p). You can also make a simple tariff change to one of the new Simplicity tariffs which will give you 1200 texts. Since you're not subject to any minimum term it should be straightforward.

My contract was up for renewal a few days ago, rang retentions today and spoke to someone who wasn’t interested & basically said I was only using around 400 mins so couldn’t offer me much. Also very unprofessional (kept asking for my moby number, even half was though the call) so just asked for my PAC. At one point she even said id never get as good a deal as the one I’m on (which was 500 mins 100 txts for 20 a month). Without even try I know 3 do something similar for £18. Been with o2 4 years but wont be using them again.

You don't give up that easily, I spoke to 3 different people in about twenty mins.Requested my PAC and 5 mins later called going thru upgrades rather than retentions. I was put thru to retentions and was given a fantastic deal. Been with them 3 yrs.PAC has come but there's no way I'm leaving;).
    Call them again.

What are they offering on the iphone any good deals or still none?

I'm on the old 750 mins 750 texts tarrif for £35 a month which I'm happyish with but I wouldn't want to drop down to 600 minutes as I use nearly my full 750 every month. I've been with them about 3 years and if they gave me an iphone with some internet useage on my current tarrif that would be great.

Otherwise looks like I'll be able to get a blackberry, bb bolt on and perhaps a few quid off per month.
