Has anyone had any success getting redemptions to price match a deal against Tesco Contract Mobile as they have some very good prices?

Hi guys,
My contract finishes on the 7th July with O2. I am currently on O2 Online 30 Texter tarriff - £30 a month, Nokia 6500, 400mins + 1000 texts with unlimited O2 calls (I couldn't do without this!). It is an 18 month contract.
When should I ring O2's retentions dept? June - seeing as it is my last billable month? Or would my last bill come in July? I usually get billed on the 23rd of every month.
Any advice on getting a good deal out of O2 would be much appreciated. I am not too fussed on a new handset, but if I can I might as well! Or else, cut down my monthly cost to just £15-20 a month, I am sure they'd do that!0 -

If your contract finishes on the 7th July. Then ring up on 7th June. That's 30 days.
If i was you Ask for a PAC code and 30 days notice. Wait till the end when there is about 3-6 days left before the contract runs out.
By then you would have had some calls by o2 for upgradading. But dont take them unless you have been given a really good deal...
Once time is up ring up, ask for retention depertment and speak to a advisor. Tell that person what you're after. Read some post from here to give you some tips.
Always works for me upgradingon the last min.0 -
Just got off the phone with o2 and got the following:
18 months
600 mins xnet
1000 texts
o2-o2 bolt-on
blackberry bolt-on
Blackberry Bold 9000
Pay-as-u-go usb internet (One off £15 charge)
All for £20 per month
Had that put into writing too and sent to me with the phone...very pleased I think0 -
Does anyone think that I could get an iPhone £35 pm package and O2 would throw in my home broadband.. It would put my effective costs of the tarrif down to about £28 (since i already use their great broadband)
I already pay £27 (+£7) for a poxy K850i... Does anyone have any other ideas for reducing the cost of an iPhone tarrif on retentions?0 -
Anyone got the heads up on if it will be coming to 02 in the near future, due upgrade next month and would rather wait for the Storm than get the curve or Bold :beer:MFWB
