  • Thanks Jimster! My contract is up for renewal next Friday and I was wondering how get the best out of O2. I want to get myself a Samsung Tocco Ultra for £20 (or less!) a month with unlimited browsing. I'm pretty sure it's doable, or this time I really will move over to the dark side and get myself a three contract.

Good advice on techniques btw. Anyone else got other tips? Last time they offered me a £30 contract for £20.. then I asked how much a £35 contract would be.. they tapped away and said £20 again! I think they can go up to 40% discount on contracts.

Was also retained by O2 today.

Originally negotiations went very badly - so badly infact that when I asked for my PAC code they actually gave it to me! (not ideal as I wanted to stay with o2).

PAC code came through this morning in a text however got a call this afternoon (from the real retentions department I guess) and came away with a deal I'm happy with, perhaps not as good as Jimster above but then again im a light user. Details below:

    200 mins
    400 texts
    Unlimited o2 to o2
    Unlimited web browsing
    18 months
    Free Nokia 5800
    £10 per month

    Very happy with that :j

Monkeys! (not O2, just a general exclamation...!)

I had O2 home broadband only, was hoping they would waive the £50-odd quid moving home free and give me a deal on a sim-only contract & home BB together. No dice, just tried to sell me mobile BB at half price and said they only really do home BB deals with mobile customers.

All depends on whether I ditch or sort the @*£%er's at BT, but if I keep the line then... What to do?

Call again and try with somebody else?
Quickly sign up for a sim-only, swallow the £50 and try again for a discount in a month? Do this but don't swallow the £50, and try to get that too after a month?

That's a great deal. I'd probably take it over mine and make less calls :) I've got another handset for the Mrs to do as well, she hasn't made her mind up about what phone she wants but knowing you can get down to £10 is nice.

Well thinking back I think I could have had yours as well, I vaguely recall 400 mins 1000 texts for £15pm being mentioned. Maybe once you get to that stage of retentions they are fairly standard deals. I also mentioned a couple of offers I’d seen other people been given in this thread, that seemed to get things going. I think the key is to know what you want (realistically), handsets and rough number of minutes and texts and any other bolt-ons.

This would be an ideal package for me. Hope I can get something similar (even without the 5800) when I upgrade from simplicity in the near future.

As I moved onto simplicity (£15 reduced to £10 for 6 months) when my last ran out am I eligible for some of these deals? I really fancy taking on a blackberry £20/month contract and then selling on to fund the purchase of a SE905!

FYI - i was offered the c905 on the £20 tariff

I'm on simplicity (moved there from a 12 month contract with o2) and retentions offered me 200mins 400 texts for £10 a month, with £100 credit or a refurbished blackberry or new nokia 6300. It's an 18 month contract.

Sounds pretty good, but I'm still tempted by Virgin Mobiles £8.50 contracts.

Does anyone know if o2 tend to budge from their first offer?

I got £150 credit. try push for that. theres no harm
