My Mrs has just called o2 and has been told she cannot have anything!

Even though for the last 18 months she has been on 400mins, 1000 txt for 15 (retentions tariff)

Plus i upgraded yesterday got the blackberry curve 600min, 1000txt and unlimited data, after being on the 400min, 1000txt retention tariff for 18 month previous!!

Can anyone help/advise/give me another number for her to try?

    Thanks!
    Cheers Petchy

I've just been offered the Nokia 5800 free, 600 minutes, 1000 texts and internet browsing for £20/mnth on 18 mnth contract which was the same offer I was quoted earlier this afternoon. At the end of the call the girl the quote would be saved for 7 days so I'm now thinking when I rang the second time the initial quote was saved and she just rhymed it off again so there isn't much chance of someone new offering you a better deal - any thoughts?

Hi, ive been with o2 for a few years now on pay monthly.
Im currently paying £25.53 per month for their 250 & 100 plan, though every month my bill is always more than £25.53(£56 this month). In that last month I used only 86 mins of talk time,so the extra mustve been through texts.
Ideally I would like to pay £20 per month with more texts,so what should I be asking from them? Also if I was to leave o2 how do I go about keeping my present phone number.

    TIA ,Wayne.

    Simplicity the way to go?

As I moved onto simplicity (£15 reduced to £10 for 6 months) when my last ran out am I eligible for some of these deals? I really fancy taking on a blackberry £20/month contract and then selling on to fund the purchase of a SE905!
  • Just rang and got a new Nokia 6220, 600 mins anytime xnetwork, 1000 txts and unlimited internet - for £20 a month (18 month contract).

Since I was paying £25 a month for a slightly worse deal this seemed pretty good to me so I accepted.

How does the unlimited data internet thing work? You use the 3G to surf the web for free? Seems good!

I'm on simplicity (moved there from a 12 month contract with o2) and retentions offered me 200mins 400 texts for £10 a month, with £100 credit or a refurbished blackberry or new nokia 6300. It's an 18 month contract.

Sounds pretty good, but I'm still tempted by Virgin Mobiles £8.50 contracts.

Does anyone know if o2 tend to budge from their first offer?
  • Retained today by O2, have just got to the end of an 18-month contract.

    Before:
    Was paying £30 for
    400 minutes
    500 texts
Free Nokia 6500 slider 18 months ago.

    After: £15 for
    400 minutes
    1000 texts
    Unlimited browsing
    Free Nokia 5800.

My technique was to remain in good humour through the whole thing. Note down the name of the person you are speaking to and use it throughout the conversation.

Started by asking customer services when my contract was up. She confirmed it was this month and put me through to upgrades. Asked upgrades for the Touch HD which they don't do, asked about the 5800, already had my preferred Orange 5800 web deal in front of me (affordablemobiles.co.uk), which they couldn't match but offered to pass me to retentions (without me asking) to get a better deal.

3rd person was very willing to come up with a deal that matched what was on offer, first deal was 200min 400txt & Free data @ £20.

I then said "[name], is that the best possible deal you can do me today without me having to ask for my PAC, which I really don't want to do?"
2nd deal was same, but down to £17.50

Finally I asked "Is there any chance of getting some more minutes?" and was ultimately offered the deal at the top. Not sure I could have got it for under a tenner as it was already better than the Orange deal I'd found on the web.

    Happy with that.
  • BTW I've got the details of the deal in an email from them too.

    Just in case...
