I could have got a much better offer it seems if I had taken out a new full contract.
Problem is I'm moving to Ireland in June, so signing up for an 18 month UK contract was pointless, so went for the simplicity 1 month rolling contract.
Even worse, Irish phones are an absolute fortune.0 -
Or you can do a deal without a phone - for example, on many O2 contracts they'd put £150 on your account, as well as allowing discount on the rental0

Gah, spoke to retentions today.
I told them i was gonna switch to vodafone, they said they'd give me the 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet for £20 p/m (with the 6800) only if i pay £30 for a PAYG mobile broadband dongle.
Anything i have to say to get it without the dongle?0 -
hello, first time post here. i've been reading these post with great intrest, cant belive some of the deals you lot are getting.
this is my problem, can any of you advise on the best thing to do please.
at the moment i'm on 200 mins/200 txt £25 a month (i'm a light user). I have found a deal with Three for £20 (200mins/ultd text/ultd internet E71 nokia) but that offer runs out 29th april and my contract with 02 doesnt finish until 7th June.
Should i risk missing out on the three deal and wait and hope o2 can do a simerlar deal?
Please help!!0 -
Hi,
Spoken to retentions, was told my average use is 110 mins, 450 texts.
Was offered 400 mins, 1000 texts, £150 cashback for not taking a phone.
£15 a month for 18 months.0 -
Im interested in the Sony Erricson C510 handset, not into any fancy items.
A phone is a phone, and a laptop is for the internet.
Was on the Online35 deal, it ran out last year so i went onto simplicity at £20 p/m with my £30 tesco phone handset. The handset is a little worn, and was looking to put an upgrade together.
I am against being tied in for 18months contract though, alot can change in 18months, and they are not very compassionate.0 -
ok i phoned O2 today and told em my contract has ended but i dont fancy any phones that are out at the moment, despite me being offered a discounted retention deal yesterday.
The guy told me he could save me money and put me onto a £20pm tarrif with 600 mins, 1200 txts and unlimited web and said it was only a 30 day contract.
I asked him if i were to see a phone i really want in the summer months would i still be able to get a discounted retention deal and he said i would still get a discount on a new contract no problem.
Is that true, or have i screwed my chance of a new deal by switching to a 30 day contract?0 -
tbh i had a new 30 day contract nov last year which i upgraded to blackberry curve for £20pm (600min+1000txt+unlimited.blackberry).. so im guessing not much of a difference.. you can still haggle once the time is right...
im thinking of doing the same because they won't budge on the n96:beer:0 -
Long time lurker, first time poster!
I rang and got offered this:
Nokia E71
600mins
1000text
Web-Bolt on
=£20
Quite happy with that deal. I think thats pretty standard too. The guy on the phone was REALLY helpful, I have to wait 20ish days or so because I am in my 19month, and on a Simplicity line, so have to wait till the end of 30days to upgrade.
Basically, if you do your research, and state "I want X, Y with Z" they should give it (the person on the phone said next time you ring, state what I said to you).
I've been on Simplicity 14 months- currently a 30 day notice online deal 600 minutes, 500 texts unlimited O2 to O2 paying £19.57.
Just been offered similar deal
Nokia E71
600mins
1000text
o2 - o2 Unlimited-Bolt on
£20 /month 18 months
I need the o2/o2 but really want the unlimited web/mail but they would only offer as a £7 extra bolt on or max £1 per day if connecting. I'll hang fire till the end of the month when they maybe desperate to meet targets.0 -
Got my Samsung Pixon this afternoon, love it, really easy to use. Not too big, have gone from a 8gb N95 and it isnt too different in size from that. Touch screen is really responsive - easy to use with or without the stylus. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
