Just thought i'd write about my experience with O2 in the hope it helps out others currently after an upgrade (and to ask for advice from someone who perhaps works for O2!) - have been with O2 for about 4 years on a £35pm contract, but have been paying £20 a month for the past 3 years or so after getting my line rental discounted by retentions for the past two contracts.
Have rung retentions twice now with the hope of getting the C905 deal that a few people have mentioned on here (£20, 600 mins, unlimited texts + internet), but they're not offering it to me at the moment as they say that i haven't contributed enough over the course of my contract to get this deal.
The first girl i spoke to offered me the C905 free, but for £35 per month and was not interested in discounting or offering any other deals.
I rang again a few days ago and the guy i spoke to offered me a much better deal (free C905, 800 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited O2-O2 weekend calls) for £25 pm (discounted from £40). However, i'm not bothered about the O2-O2 calls and would really like to swap these for the unlimited web bolt-on, but the guy said he couldn't do this on this tariff as it's quite an old one.
My question for someone from O2 is, is there anyway i can get the web bolt on for free? Also, is this the best i am likely to be offered or should i try again? I realise that i probably can't get the £20 per month deal that several on here have reported, but would be happy with the deal i've been offered if i could get the web bolt-on.
Thanks in advance!
Hey, I just posted a few posts up and got the c905 600 mins, o2 to o2 1000 txt AND unlimited web.
I just told them what I wanted, mins, txts, and internet. They offered me all three, then I pushed a bit further and just asked if they could add on the o2 to o2. I spoke to a nice woman called Gayle in retentions, and she had no problems addin it on whatsoever.
I would advise to just try again or ask them to just swap the o2 to o2 for web.
Hope that helps.0 -

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Thanks! If you don't mind me asking, how much has your monthly spend been over the course of your last contract?0 -

Was in the same position had gone from vodaphone contract to o2 simplicity cheapest tariff at the time £15.
I called them and they explained that the good deals would only be avilable after Id been with them for a year so to try and hang on which I did.
They gave me a date to call back and the deals offered were the usual £20 for the £35 per month tariff with a good new phone ie c905, blackberry etc or £15 with less mins on an older new phone. I could also get the keep your own phone, cheaper tariff.
Would advise that your wife waits a couple of months you are then treated the same as a pay monthy existing customer. was offered the same deals as my other half who is a larger spender with o2
Hope this helps0 -
Was on a £35 p/m 18 month contract with O2, but my last 3 bills were closer to £100 (my fault, I had a busy few months and far exceeded my allowance).
Phoned up when contract expired and got 600 mins, 1200 texts (I think its unlimited O2->O2 texts) and unlimited web for £19.50 a month.
It's a simplicity tariff and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't actually need a new handset.0 -

Did you not get any cashback added to your account in lieu of the phone? If not, I'm afraid you got ripped off a bit, as it is possible to get that deal for about £5 a month! (After the cashback has been taken into account)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

I was on an iphone tarrif, £45 though was normally ending up spending £55 sometimes though my average usuage was only about 200 mins when I had 1200 at hand.
Try push for £20, i only pushed for the extra o2 to o2, though £25 is still fine for me as its pretty much half price to what I was paying.0 -
I have a question, does being a PAYG O2 member going to give me any type of negotiation power over O2, because Im guessing it wont even though they should surely hope to retain their PAYG customers for a longer term by offering them good contracts. I tried to ring up and negotiate a deal, however just seemed like I was talking to a brick wall, only talked to one person, one of the default people you first get put through to who have no real power to offer better deals, but I wondered if I should push to try get through to someone with more authority and try get a better deal on contract for myself as im looking to move to a contract now.Feb 2013 : Barry M Entire Nail Paint Collection (For the GF)0
