Spoken with Retention.
I've been offered:
150min
300texts
10 ppm
no handset
18 months
100GBP cashback
:-(
Slightly disappointed...

Yes, but how much are you paying currently, if you don't mind me asking? If you've only contributed 20 or 25 pounds a month up until now, you'll not get as good a deal. Most of the people who have been getting the top deals have been on £35 a month or above tariffs. If that's what you are on, then just try again!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Okay so i'm currently on 12 month 400M 500TXTS @ £35pm deal and due upgrade on Wednesday.
Hoping to get the Samsung Tocco Ultra free on a £20pm contract with web bolt on (probably on an 18 month deal now though)
Just wondering, whats the best way to ask for this deal at retentions?
Do i say....
Seen people on forums getting this deal and wondering if you could do it for me due to the credit crunch i need to reduce my bill but prefer to stay with O2?
Or i want to cancel due to seeing a better deal with Vodaphone and then i invent a tariff for £20 a month that i hope they'll match?0 -

That is true...
I'm on 10 per month for 75minutes, 150texts, unlimited o2 calls
Plus I have broadband and another PAYG
I'll call back to subscribe and see...

Best not to invent a tariff as they'll know what sounds believable and what doesn't! The way I'd recommend is going to retentions and quote deals that other people have actually got, or that you've seen on other websites. Then ask them to match it or you'll request your PAC code. They'll usually come up with a deal, with you can accept, or if you don't like it, tell them to send your PAC code - which you don't have to use - or just ring back again at a later date.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

So I'm going to phone retentions/cancellations in the morning after all as the deal upgrades offered me was rubbish plus I've found a better deal from Vodafone (£25 p/m).
I'm hoping O2 will match/beat it once I bring it to their attention but say they don't and they give me my PAC code, can cancel my cancellation at a later date?0 -

Requesting your PAC code doesn't actually cancel your contract. It's only when you use it that this occurs. So you could request it as leverage and then just bin it when it arrives. It might help you get what you want. And quote them the voda deal, although go for £20! I got it for that with 600mins, 1000 txts and free internet!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Asking for your pac but not going through with the cancellation is a once only trick is it not? If the 30 days elapse and you have not secured a good retention offer then you must either quit for real or ask for another pac having had your bluff called. In other words you would be left in a very weak position.0

That's what I'm hoping for but I've only been with O2 for 2 months on the simplicity package, so I doubt it if they'll be too bothered about me leaving to give me such a deal. We'll see anyway....0 -

I doubt if it will cause alarm bells to ring at O2 HQ0 -

It is £48.93 with the £30/month tariff, (400 mins 1000 texts), this tariff comes with unlimited O2 to O2 calls, I just asked for it to be swapped to the web bolt on. Then I was cheeky and asked for free home broadband. £20 per month.
Just tell them what you want and see if it is possible, do you need more mins and texts?0
