Anyone know what the likelihood is that O2 will sort me a deal/discount if I upgrade having been on Simplicity (600mins/600texts/web bolt-on) for only two months?

I'm hoping to get the Nokia 5800 but intend to credit £240 to my account (which would normally cover my line £20 rental for 12 months).

Also, what's the best way for me to go about it - retentions or upgrades?

So I tried upgrades and got nowhere really - £35 for the 5800 and the same allowance I currently have. Now i'm bebating if to even bother with retentions....

My wife was today offered 200mins, 400txts, unlimited O2-O2 for £10p.m on 18 month contract. £150 credit in lieu of handset. Makes it £30 for 18 months or £1.67 per month. Seems pretty reasonable.

my hubby was offered the same today and was very happy with that considering he was paying £30 for 500 mins( he only uses 197 on average the lady told him on the phone). he was over the moon!!

I saw a £15 per month deal with 100 minutes and unlimited texts plus the samsung Pixon £50 on a 24 month contract from mobiles.co.uk and when I called retentions to ask if they could match this I was told no they could not as it was a third party agreement. I said I wasn't happy that they couldn't match the offer and after a couple of minutes and the guy going off to speak to a supervisor I managed to get:-
    600minutes
    1000texts
    Unlimited web bolt on
    Samsung Pixon
all for £20 per month :)

I hope you manage to get the deal you are after

I spoke to them on friday night, and they said they didn't offer the phone at all, only 3rd parties can offer it.

I would get the Iphone; But it is out of my price range!

To be honest, I have no idea what to do!

    Just got

    400 mins
    1000 texts
    free web bolt on
    free home broadband (12 months)
    free LG Renoir
    £20 a month

This is fine I never used all my mins and texts on the simplicity deal of 200 mins and 400 texts.

got a text today saying i'm a Silver o2 Priority Customer & can upgrade early

    middle of April i think

I'm happy with my current phone, so looking to take a 18 month contract and sell phone, can anyone reccomend best phone in terms of resale value, looking to pay £20 a month 5\600 minutes, 1k text + web bolt on, thanks
  • The Nokia 5800 is pretty popular at the moment so that might be a good one. But obviously I can't say exactly which one will get you the most money because I don't know! All I know is that this phone has sold over a million in the UK already since it was released in Jan!

My mate called upgrade dep and was only offered poor deals. He then asked to be redirected to retentions but the lady said she can only put him through to cancellations. Will he have to say he wants to cancel in order to be put through to retentions?

I believe they are one and the same.

They are indeed the same department. Call 202 from your mobile and choose the cancellations option. That's the most direct way of getting there. Say you wish to cancel but if they match another deal that you have found, you might be willing to stay.

    Spoken with Retention.

    I've been offered:

    150min
    300texts
    10 ppm
    no handset
    18 months
    100GBP cashback

    :-(

    Slightly disappointed...
