Just spent 10 mins trying to get through to o2 upgrade/retentions. Everytime it has beeped and said the line is busy

I've tried 2 numbers, does this happen a lot or am I just unlucky  (typical, in my lunch break and I've just broken my current phone :rotfl:)

Hi, in response to emrawkgrrl. Not sure what number you ringing, but I rang up 4 times today during the day (will explain shortly), and everytime, I got through, max wait was about 2 rings. Are you O2 or through CPW?

Anyway, rang retentions today, was offered the 600 mins, 1000 txts and unlimited web for £20, and that was just with saying that I am a loyal O2 customer for the past 11 years. No real haggling involved, just stated some facts. I had to ring up 4 times, each time spoke to someone different in retentions, and all 4 people were absolutely marvellous! Superb customer service, approach, attitude, understanding etc etc (and no, I don't work for O2!). I was waiting for the stock of Nokia E71 to be registered on the system, needless to say, I got it for free.

I think I could have asked for a little bit more, which seems to the recent experience of O2 customers lately, but if I am not going to use the extras, whats the point? It will only look as though I don't know what I wanted at the time when I come to renew in 18 months!

I've been a happy O2 customer for 11 years, and it looks as though I will be for the next 18 months. I think my next port of call is my O2 broadband, one of the guys in retentions told me to give then a quick call...... :rotfl:
  • Hi.. this is my first posting here. Been observing this thread for a while. Called retention this afternoon, this is what i got:

    Blackberry Flip 8220
    600 minutes
    1000 text
    Blackberry Bolt-on
H15 motorola Bluetooth headset (for 69 pounds)
    just GBP20 per month..
previously been paying 35 a month for 400 min and 500 text in an N95.

waiting for it to be delivered. Any idea when (including when DHL will be knocking on my door?) will my phone be arriving? I live in Manchester and the operator told me it'll be in 1-2 working days..

If you've got the e-mail saying it's dispatched, it'll probably be there tomorrow.

    Hi
Iv got 2 contracts with 02 had them for approx 2 and half yrs - one for me and my partner has the other one.
I just upgraded his contract from online 35 and got
C905 20 per month for 400 mins 1000 txts and unlimited 02 - 02 calls, he rarely uses over 200 mins so am happy with that.

I upgraded in sep last year and unfortunatley hadnt seen this site or i would have negotiated a better deal. I have the online 35 on my contract but regularly go over it with data charges, do you think i will be able to negotiate a deal for a web bolt on mid point of contract as i spend approx £75 - 80 per month between the 2 contracts??
    Thanks

You can phone up and ask them to move you on to the newer version of the tariff which will allow you to have a free bolt-on and then select the web as that one.

If thats not the reason for going over, ask for some best plan advise as well to see if there is anything that can bring the costs down.

Anyone know what the likelihood is that O2 will sort me a deal/discount if I upgrade having been on Simplicity (600mins/600texts/web bolt-on) for only two months?

I'm hoping to get the Nokia 5800 but intend to credit £240 to my account (which would normally cover my line £20 rental for 12 months).

Also, what's the best way for me to go about it - retentions or upgrades?

Definitely retentions. you get nowhere with upgrades!:D

been lurking here for the past few days - I called o2 on Friday and got 200 minutes, 200 texts, free o2>02 calls for £10 per month and £150 credit, so works out to £1.67 per month

I did try and swap the o2>o2 for the web bolt on but they weren't having any of that! Pity, since I do tend to pay an extra £5 or so in web charges per month...

    not that happy with o2..

Currently i'm on the an online texter plan which gives me
    1250 mins
    750 texts with rollover
    for £35 per month.

Am way past my upgrade date so I called retentions today after looking through what people were being offered here but would not offer me as much.

He offered the standard 600 mins, 1000, texts, free blackbery 8900, bb bolt on etc etc for £25 a month and would not budge to £20 even though I said I saw people were being offered the contract for £20.

He said that the line rental was discounted £10 per month. I asked if I could just get the £10 per month discount on my current plan as that gives me more minutes but he said no.
Was he correct? Would another person be able to? He said the offer would be valid for 7 days and was placed on my file.. Again does that mean no-one would offer me better?

My Average spend is £40 - 45 (but some months goes way higher as I travel abroad quite abit), have been a loyal customer since the cellnet days so was really hoping for a little better deal especially from the retentions..

Are you sure that's your tariff? Its not one I'm familiar with and the texter options always have more texts than minutes as standard.
