not that happy with o2..
Currently i'm on the an online texter plan which gives me
1250 mins
750 texts with rollover
for £35 per month.
Am way past my upgrade date so I called retentions today after looking through what people were being offered here but would not offer me as much.
He offered the standard 600 mins, 1000, texts, free blackbery 8900, bb bolt on etc etc for £25 a month and would not budge to £20 even though I said I saw people were being offered the contract for £20.
He said that the line rental was discounted £10 per month. I asked if I could just get the £10 per month discount on my current plan as that gives me more minutes but he said no.
Was he correct? Would another person be able to? He said the offer would be valid for 7 days and was placed on my file.. Again does that mean no-one would offer me better?
My Average spend is £40 - 45 (but some months goes way higher as I travel abroad quite abit), have been a loyal customer since the cellnet days so was really hoping for a little better deal especially from the retentions..
Just try again. You should also be flexible on the phone that you're after. If there's any other phone, they might be able to do a better deal on it. And look up deals from other sites online, and then ring O2 and tell them exactly what you can get. They should attempt to match it, unless its an N96 of course!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

So was I! But I couldn't get it for less than £45 a month! Even though other networks were offering it for £30! So I went for the Nokia 5800 instead, and I'm glad I did for £20 a month! It's a very good phone in my opinion although battery life isn't great. About 3 days but I suppose that's the same with most phones now!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Hi,
I am a student, looking for a decent phone (for once!) on O2.
I have been on PAYG for over a year, with an average top up of just over £15 a month.
I've searched quite a bit, and like the HTC Touch HD; If I can afford it.
I've seen deals on omio dot com such as the O2 100 (24 Months) deal; £40 for the phone and £15 a month contract (I don't mind being on a contract for an extra 6 months if I get a better deal)
I am happy with 500 texts and 100 free minutes - which is what I currently get for a £15 top up a month (I don't get the minutes, but I get the credit to spend). Ideally I don't want to increase my spend too much, being a student.
I did have someone from O2 ring me a few weeks ago asking if I would like to upgrade to contract; I said I had been thinking about it, but hadn't researched a phone I wanted so I would call back.
I am quite new to this, so what kind of deals can I get? Is this deal from mobiles.co.uk too good to be true? If I go on there directly, the only one I can find is £30 a month with a free phone and 13 months half price (Which I would be prepared to pay).
Thanks in advance!0 -
hey ... thats not looking good....
i need N96....no other phone
do u think im going to be wasting my time with o2 nxt week trying to haggle over? surely it has been ages and they must drop the price now ... or am i dreaming?:beer:0 -

Yea I'd imagine so. I wasted a whole week phoning them about it. They all had the same story. If you want the N96 for less than £45 a month, just leave. Vodafone have it for £35 I think but you can get it on O2 for £30 if you go down the cashback route.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I'd like to make a written complaint to o2 regarding the handling of my iPhone contract, where should I write to? Or is email better?
Thanks!0 -
bump .........Is there anyone who has had a retention upgrade from a Simplicity contract ? My last O2 phone contract ended 12 months ago since then I've been on Simplicity - currently a 30 day notice online deal 600 minutes, 500 texts unlimited O2 to O2 paying £19.57. I also get free home broadband which they told me in Feb (its one years anniversary) I would continue to get as long as I had a contract with them.
The minutes, texts and unlimited o2's are fine for me but I fancy a new phone and knowing I'd have to commit to 18 months wonder what I could expect for the same kind of monthly outlay - I'd also like unlimited web/email.0 -
bump .........
I definitely heard of people getting good deals coming off simplicity onto a contract, whether or not through retentions, I don't no. You could give them a call and find out!
Most people seem to be able to get deals around the 20-25 mark with 600mins/1000 texts + bolt on so I don't see why you shouldn't get the same. After all, you are a loyal customer! (Well, one who wants to leave in order to force them to give a good deal! Bit like the rest of us! )Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
