Hi, i am almost at the end of my O2 12m contract (e2save) costing me almost nothing with cashback.

Will they lower the price of a £150 iPhone handset if i commit to 18m £35 contract given they offer £150 credit if you don't take a phone?

Try to get a good deal on the handset given i will be paying £35 for 18m, presume they wont budge on the line rental price.

    Thanks

No. They won't change the price of the handset at all on the iPhone no matter how much you try. Neither the cost of the tariff. The option you do have is to take a reconditioned 16gb, for £99 on the £35?

Because you're not taking the £150, doesn't mean that you're in effect saving o2 money.. they have to provide a handset which costs more than the £150.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Just rang O2 retention to get my PAC code.
As suspected they're unable to match Vodafone's offer.
    40 quid / month
    700 mins
    250 txts (irrelevant)
    unlimited voda2voda (o2-2-o2 :D ) OR landline calls
    unlimited internet
And a free HTC Touch Pro (XDA Serra on O2).

    Pity.

You can only apply the friends and family discount in store, when you upgrade or take a new contract out. The problem you have then is that you can't really get any retention deal, in store. So..

the problem i have in store is that they arent prepared to give me any discounted line rental for upgrading and want to charge me for a phone

so i end up being offered 30% off the £25 per month tariff which comes to £17.50 but then have to pay £49.99 for a handset

looks like im going to be going back to orange or voda

Yeah that's the problem.. have you asked retentions if you upgrade in store, would it be possible to add the discount on to your account afterwards?

    Worth a try.

sounds like a hassle with a lot of scope for them to go back on their word.

ill wait and see if they try to call me to offer me something as they know what i want
  • Rang O2 to finally accept my deal - keep same contract, pay £20/month and get £150 credit, simple right? No way! "No you cannot have that deal on £20/mth" (despite the fact that it's been promised on each and every call), "you cannot have the £150 credit " ! Offered to me just a few days ago but the dude didn't write it down in his notes!!
What on earth is going on?
They're withdrawing deals left, right and centre!
I know it's only £50 but it's the lack of principle and honouring their word that gets me.
I'm seeking out a new deal avidly! My PAC is still valid and I will use it before it expires.

After calming myself down, I called back again today to ask why I could no longer get the £150 re-sign credit as previously offered (changed to £100 yesterday).

The person I spoke to said it couldn't be done, that deals change.

I asked for my records to be checked since I called on the 10th March and was given that offer as one option of many that was put to me. I was asked for a name (unfortunately, this was the one and only time I didn't get the person's name!), but since I didn't have any name they couldn't check to see if i was indeed offered this??? I said please look back at the call records etc, flatly refused.

I don't know what's happening. I may have taken a long time to finally decide on my tariff but hey that's no reason to penalise me! People are still getting the £150 I see but for me they won't do it. I think they're keen to get me off the old tariff and would risk seeing me walk to do so. O2 bods, is this the agenda now?

Also no discounts on the Simplicity tariffs via retentions.

In cash terms, the new offer costs £14.44/mth over 18months as opposed to £11.67/mth via the old, now defunct deal. I'm unhappy with the way things are panning out....

Is anybody managing to get a good deal for around £15 per month including a phone? I was offered either the Nokia 6220 or 6600 slide but neither of these really appeal to me so I was wondering if anybody had been offered anything different?

It is, but if it's on the accounts notes, o2 are generally good at honouring what's been put on them previously.

Yea but since we can't see the notes, how do we know they aren't jut saying it isn't in the notes? Or maybe they're told not to write any deals in the notes, so they don't have to honour them in the future?
