Hi,
I'm hearing lots of people on here who are, in effect, getting their line rental for £20, with a reasonable amount of texts and minutes.
Anyone been getting a letter from O2 lately saying that they can now upgrade? I have, but when I rang up, normal upgrades can offer the upgrade early, but when I go through to retentions, I'm told that I have to wait another couple of weeks before the "option is unlocked" in my account! Is this true? A rententions upgrade cannot be actioned until a specific date? Anyone who works for O2 to confirm this?
I was verbally told that I should be able to get 600 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited internet and a N71 (FOC) for around £20 a month. Sounds like the bog standard retentions deal to me! I was told the notes were added to my account, and is this notes valid for 7 days only? Thanks
Any information would be most welcome!0 -
The letter is from the loyalty department and upgrades can only be done through them until the date of your actual upgrade date, the letter normally comes about 3 weeks before your upgrade date.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

I called today to "chase up" my PAC code as I hadn't had it text to me (in reality I was hoping they'd come up with a deal for me.)
Was offered:
Free SE W705
600 mins
1000 txts
Free Bolt on
18 months
12 months @ £25 6 months @ £30.
That was based on me quoting the Vodafone offer of:
SE W715 (slightly better than W705)
600 mins
Unltd Texts
18 months @ £25
£90 Quidco (granted not guaranteed but Voda's stats on there are good).
Still getting more for my money from Vodafone. Its frustrating knowing that people are getting better phiones for £20 on the same deal. What do people reckon? Time to use the PAC with Vodafone?0 -

Hey bagand,
That offer above is terrible!
If i was in your situation i would firstly:
Phone up tomorrow outside of the 11:30am - 2pm time slot.
Say can i discuss the offer i received yesterday. Then say I dont need 600 mins, can you lower my tarriff to the next one down and see how much do they it for.
Insist that you are only willing to spend £20 per month and see whats the best offer they can do.
I have a feeling they might knock £5 off, so might be lucky with £20 x 12 months and £25 for remaining 6 months.
But since you got nothing to lose, with that offer they gave today was shocking!
I would just move?
I got my W705 today, been busy since i came home so havent had time to play with it yet. The slide is slightly rough when i push it up. The buttons are weird, like a piece of plastic over the buttons with a slight bump to represent each number/key. I'm still questioning the slide/build quality.
The design looks good, but there is a slight gap between the slide bit... Wondering if it will last the full 18 months lol. If you got any questions regarding the W705. I'll answer them in PM if you want (since its retentions thread) Remember i havent used it yet, so still new to Sony Ericssons0 -
I was with O2 for about 5 years on PAYG, now considering a deal from Vodafone. Being a picky b****rd that i am i cannot take just any handset. So far O2 shops showed me what "dont know dont care" attitude is.
I have my gaze upon HTC Touch Pro (XDA Serra) which according to shop drones is 75 quid a month, which is clearly unacceptable.
So i was wondering, since i am moving to Voda and will request PAC, wont this shake some sense into O2 (for offering me a deal, or i am unworthy for being PAYG customer ?)
Anyone recently took out XDA Serra on 18mth ? 700 min, 250txt, unlimited internet ?0 -
I have a contract with Vodafone, been with them ever since I first had a mobile and always been happy with them.
I also have a phone I use as an emergency phone - do sometimes need two phones. This one was on a very cheap contract, £6 per month with £72 credit - effectively free (so very cheap!! lol) but then started to creep up, last year I got it for £10 per month with a £95 credit, which meant I only had to pay the last £25.
Just had a letter to say I was due an upgrade, so contract running out, don't want a new phone as I am using my old one from my Voda contract from when I last upgraded that but the best I was offered was £15 a month contract with £75 credit, effectively about £8.75 a month.
Really don't want to pay that for a phone I don't use much anyway. I read on here that others have had £10 a month contracts offered with £150 credit, making £1.67 a month (OP steveandel). So I just phoned again and quoted what the other person was offered, but was told it depended on usage and I wasn't entitled to that. My usage hasn't changed, except to perhaps get better as my Vodafone phone went away for a repair and I used the O2 a bit more, yet I have always got a better deal than that.
I have told them I want disconnecting when the notice on this contract runs out - April 17th.
Do you think if I ring up nearer that date they might offer me a better deal or would I be best just looking for some free sim cards? - Not that bothered about keeping the number as I don't give it out to anyone anyway.
Had thought of getting an Orange PAYG sim to get 241 cinema tickets anyway, although I have a feeling I might be able to get them anyway as my Broadband is now with Orange (formerly Wanadoo), but not sure how that works.
Sorry for the long post. TIA0 -
im currently using 150 mins, 150 texts and spending £5-6 per month on the internet
so i just called and asked for nokia 5800 on 200 mins 200 texts tarriff with internet bundle
she said it would be £15 per month with no internet useage (200 mins and 400 texts)
i would have to pay £20 per month to get internet bolt on and would receive 600 mins 500 texts.
so i just asked for my pac code. im quite annoyed with o2 as im meant to receive a 30% discount on my line rental through my work, but o2 claim it is instore only and when instore they claim that they cant discount my line rental for upgrading and that i would have to pay £50 for a nokia 5800.
either way, it isnt good enough, seeing as im paying £1.99 per month on a 12 month contract at present through cash back.0 -

I just called up and agreed to a deal!! Finally! W705, 18 months, 800mins, Unltd texts, 250 multimedia messages for £25. Couldn't drop below £25 (think its because i've just finished a 12 month contract?). Anyway same price as Vodafone and getting more. Ok no £90 Quidco with O2 but not too fussed about that I'd rather stay with O2.
Not sure what tarrif it is though; he said its a £40 one discounted to £25, can't seem to find one that matches? Asked for web bolt on but couldnt do it.
However my email says Online 35, Unltd anyone texts, £15 off bill for 18 monts. So i wonder if the 800mins comes from a 200 min bolt on (online 35 is 600mins), and the unlimited anyone texts is another bolt on that is being payed for (£5 to make the £40 he was talking about?). If so, anyone know if at some point I'd be able to change the bolt on to web, or even drop one if i am paying £5 for one?0 -
Hi, i am almost at the end of my O2 12m contract (e2save) costing me almost nothing with cashback.
Will they lower the price of a £150 iPhone handset if i commit to 18m £35 contract given they offer £150 credit if you don't take a phone?
Try to get a good deal on the handset given i will be paying £35 for 18m, presume they wont budge on the line rental price.

You can only apply the friends and family discount in store, when you upgrade or take a new contract out. The problem you have then is that you can't really get any retention deal, in store. So..0
