I would just like to thank everyone who helped me, in telling me what to say and ask for when calling.

On Saturday I called back and asked to drop the web bolt on.
    I was then offered:-
    400 mins
    1000 txt's
    Unlimited o2 to o2
    £15 a month
    £150 credit to account
    Therefore 8 months @ £15 = £120
or if you want to take it over the 18 months £120 / 18 = £6.67

On top of that I telephoned up yesterday for Daughters boyfriend who was on simplicity paying £15 a month for 200 min, 400 txt's. I asked if I could have his pac code as we were going to go to vodafone.

They asked why I said because he could get a better offer.
He then asked if we wanted a new phone, so i told him no, I was then offered, the same deal:-
    200 mins
    400 txt's
    unlimited o2 to o2
for £10 a month with £100 credited to account
    Therefore 8 months @ £10 = £80
    Or if you looked at it over 18 months £80 / 18 = £4.45
So he is saving now £10 a month for same thing :)

So between us over 18 months we will save £720.

Guess what daughters contract up on april 17th so I'm gonna be calling about hers as well...

    So once again thanks everyone

    Regards

    Dave H.

Does anyone in here know whether it's possible for a defecting Orange monthly contract customer to pick up a decent O2 retentions-type deal as an inducement to switch?

You could opt for the simplicity deal, then ask to upgrade after a few months and hope for a good retention deal.

hi, i'm up for renewal on 21st april so will be soon phoning to negotiate a new deal. has anybody had any recent offers inc the Nokia N96?

    i'm currently on online35 12 months with 400 mins 500 txts.
  • Hi dragonsoup

How long have you been with o2 and do you go over your normal contract rate each month? I believe they offer better deals to customers who have been with o2 for at least 2 or 3 years and who use more than their contracted minutes/texts each month.

I got the £20 per month deal recently because my average bill was around £70pm (contract was £30pm) and I had been with o2 for about 8 years.

Not sure I agree with that. Been with them 12 months on the £35 plan, only gone over allowance by a total of about £5 over the year combined and I got offered the £20 deal with extras.

Make sure you speak to retentions, choose the 'If your thinking of leaving o2' option when you ring.

For the C905 I think it's free on the £45 tarrif or £100 on the £35 tarrif. The line rental should be reduced to £27 or £20 respectively though.

I'm a very low user paying £30pm (on 100%cashback) and my contract is up for renewal so have just given o2 a call and they offered me:

Line rental drop to £10 per month and for that i get 125 minutes and 100 texts. No phone. Auto cashback of £50. Total price of 12 month contract £70.

I said no thanks. I can get a £30 per month contract elsewhere with more minutes and texts (even tho i probably wont use them). Cashback (by redemption) of £360. Free Ericsson T303. Quidco £30. Total price of contract = Minus£30.

I've always taken cashback by redemption deals, have remembered to claim on time and been paid every refund as promised, so (touch wood) am hoping for another free year. Ive never had any problem with CPW or O2 so would prefer to stay with them but there's a hundred quid difference and I'm not a loyal customer!

Bex how many times did you have to call to get this offer and were you over your contract.

I phoned today and was told as I only use about 250 mins and 470 txts all they could offer me was the simplicity £20 a month contract...

    I dont want that...
Would like summat like yours though... or will the only way I can get it is by asking for my PAC code.

    Regards

    Hi Dave,

I called three times in total. On the first they put me onto a simplicity tariff for £10 a month with 200 mins and 400 texts. I stuck with that for a couple of months, and then, tempted by the T-Mobile Solo £15 which offers unlimited texts for £15 a month, I tried again to see if i could up my allowance. I selected 'If you are thinking of leaving o2' and asked how i go about getting my PAC code. She told me and then said 'Can i ask why you are leaving?'. I quoted the T-Mobile deal and she instantly offered me £150 credit, 400 mins, 1000 texts for £15 a month. I almost took that. But on the third call i got offered £150 credit, 400 mins, 1400 texts all for £10 a month - bargain!

I have been with o2 for years and years, but I am not and have never been a particularly high spender.

A few weeks ago, offers on the N96 were very limited due to the high cost to the company to repair the N series and take their problematic calls..

Unsure if this is still the case?

I've found it free on Vodaphone for £30pm and free on O2 with a £35pm contract together with a free radio as an incentive ( via the offocial SE website).

What O2 think they are playing at I have no idea. I am also not a loyal customer. They are going to have to do better than that!

Depends a lot of the time how often and how much you go outside your monthly line rental to how much is in the "pot". To say the C905 is only available FOC on £45 limits what they can do with the cost of this hdset.

Ginger J can I ask how you picked up the phone in the local store - did you literally have to sign a new 18 month contract (getting a new sim card/number I assume) and then phone retentions to activate your deal and cancel the old one?

I was able to pick mine up from a store as well, what happened was they kept messing my order up. Ordered a BB bold and then a I rang them the next day as to why I hadn't got a shipping email and they said it was showing out of stock on my order but it was in stock, so he re-booked it. Rang again in the evening as I hadn't got an email and the same thing had happened again and she said would book it out and I'd definitely have it. Come Thursday I think I still hadn't got the phone and no email so rang them up to ask what was going on. So the guy booked it again and said there was nothing he could do, I was a bit !!!!ed off to be fair so rang up to cancel and have a go at them. I was going away for the weekend and told them I needed that phone before then and it was their fault I was being messed about. So she spoke to her manager and said go and pick it up at my local store and she would apply the tarrif. Well got to the store and the tariff hadn't been applied so rang up retentions again and she said take it out on their £45 tariff and she would cancel that one and apply the tarrif I had agreed with them. Gonna ring them soon to make sure everything is ok now.

So it seems if they mess you about you can pick it up from store.
