Seems as if I've gone as far as I can with O2
Phoned up again today. The first deal at £25 was 2000 texts (1000+1000 free). The second deal with the 600 mins and internet was actually a 24 month contract, with 18 months discounted to £25 but the other 6 months at £30!! (A fact they did not tell me last night!)
I said I'd think about it, and then called back just now for my PAC code. Quoted both Orange at £20 and Voda at £25 and he said "ok i'll process the PAC code request now etc...."
So think I'll take the Vodafone offer. Shame, liked being with O2 the last few years but the "retentions" offers just aren't competitive for me
Hey, i've accepted my offer of
400 mins and 1000 texts for £20
they wouldnt give me internet, but said i could have the next tariff up for £5. which included the bolt on, i declined that.
Dont fret! I think i got this offer cos i said
"i got my pac code and i was in 2 minds, whether to leave o2 or not?"
Then she said when did i get my pac and where would i go.
i said "i asked for it last week and got it now" then quoted the orange deal. She just gave me the listed above.
Remember just cos you got your pac, you dont have to use it. If you really like o2 (maybe just as much as me) try the strategy i used above.
Its only an 3 - 5 days wait (i waited for the letter) .....
Good luck0 -
I want to know what time people called at. I think its weird how i got a good deal before 11:00am. The times when i asked for my pac code was 12-2pm, it felt like they couldnt wait to hang up on me and try to keep the customer after me?
Maybe its better out of the rush hour/ dinner breaks for people?0 -

Cheers will try again Monday/TuesdayI do feel like I've taken it as far as I can go though, the last two checked my account notes and the last guy said there was nothing he could do. Will try again early next week, if not will order Vodafone. I dont think £20 400mins/1000txts and the W705 is too much to ask for really!! (While a new phone, its not particularly top end)

Ah yeah! i forgot
I think you have to wait till your notes are cleared too to make a better attempt.
Because the other agents dont know you've asked before. I've asked for the 5800 like 3 times and i waited 7 days every time to get my notes cleared and tried again. They treated me like i was new at the whole retentions thing
I dont know if you can actually call up and say "can you get rid off all my notes about upgrading my handset please, since i'm leaving" Then try again 3 days time haha.
That vodafone offer is good! But remember you got to wait for the quidco  . I was prepared to move to vodafone but o2 pulled that one out the pocket for me. I'm still shocked! as i was in the exact position as you.0 -
You can't delete any notes on the system.
Not sure what you mean about having to wait for notes to clear though.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

I think their confusing the fact that the OFFER stays on your file for 7 days, thinking that after that it's wiped off.
I have to say that 02 were brilliant with me when I upgraded 2 weeks ago.Yes,I had to ring back a few times, but I still got what I wanted, but a word of caution.......
In my package I got unlimited web bolt on,then one day when I checked my allowance via the phone,I noticed that I had a current charge of £3+,and looked into it when I got home.It turned out that, yes,I had been given web bolt on,but it wasn't activated, therefore everytime I went on t'internet on my phone,I was being charged for it!!!!!!
A quick phone call to 02,and when the guy picked up that I was being charged, and it was on my file that I should be getting it free,he immediately credited my account.
So beware.Check and make sure online, you are not getting charged for your web. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
Just got,
E71
Unlimited Internet
600 mins
2000 texts
£20 a month for 18 months! No arguing at all, just gave it straight away!0 -

Well... I rang up for my upgrade at 8.20 in the morning!!! and got that great deal then!
It's even better now .... I went and picked up my phone from the local store yesterday (it's so lovely!!!!) and then called up retentions again to make sure they altered the deal to reflect the offer. Anyway, couldn't get in touch with the person I originally spoke to, so they looked at my notes to verify I was telling the truth! They couldn't understand the notes properly so they ended up giving me
600 mins
UNLIMITED texts !!!!!
Unlimited web
£20 per month!!!
So big thanks to everyone because you made me brave enough to barter!!!
:T0 -
Ginger J can I ask how you picked up the phone in the local store - did you literally have to sign a new 18 month contract (getting a new sim card/number I assume) and then phone retentions to activate your deal and cancel the old one?
I wanted to do this a month ago (mid Feb) and both the store and the retentions team said it wasn't possible. The store said the only way I could walk out with the phone for free would be to sign a new contract. It was never given to me as a possibility by retentions but if it was I'd have been worried that I'd end up stuck with the store contract too!
But well done, I'm glad it worked out for you - my slight paranoia with trusting the retentions team on things like this is because I've had issues with my retentions deals with O2 before and not getting what I was originally offered. I wouldn't say that their customer service is awful but those kind of things are annoying when it happens, particularly when you don't get one of the better advisers to help rectify any mistakes..0 -
My contract ends in April, I got logged into the "upgrade section" of o2. So i am guessing im not far off getting a rententions deal. Do i need to wait until the final day of my contract (1st april)? Whats the £150 credit i hear people are getting? does everyone get it, or selected few?0
