But before you go... we've put our heads together to find a way to give you everything you're looking for without having to leave. So how about a custom deal? Perhaps a new mobile, or free Bolt On? We could move you to a lower tariff (they start at £15) or add a juicy credit to your bill. If you do head off, you'll miss out on O2 Treats and priority tickets for The O2. And moving networks is a really big fuss, so it's worth giving us a quick call to check if you're doing the right thing. Our number's 0800 977 7711. Whatever you decide, thank you for being with us.

Got the email above after giving the 30 days written cancellation notice by email. Anyone in here from 02 know whether ringing the above number (they say they're retentions) from a landline brings exactly the same deals as going to retentions via 202 on your mobile?

A question for anyone who's been given a £150 credit for not taking a new phone...

Last week I agreed a retentions deal which included the £150 credit - I was under the impression this would go into my account straight away but I can't see it showing up on my account yet. How quickly has it gone in for everyone else? Does it take a over a week to show up?

I've received my paperwork through confirming the new deal and my tariff has already switched over. I have online account maintainence - my latest bill (for previous tariff) came out today and it still says that payment will be via my direct debit.

When you say account do you mean bank account or O2 account cos it's a call credit/bill credit. AFAIK, your phone bill should be -£xx.xx unless you go over your minutes.

I mean my O2 phone account - I manage it online and was already about £30 in credit. When i logged in to review my bill received today, it was paid partly by that £30 credit and it says the remaining balance would be paid by my regular direct debit. But there is no sign at all of the £150 i agreed to last week. I was just wondering if i should query this or if it just means the £150 credit isn't showing up yet...

I called about a retentions deal for the C905, but it seems the price of that on the £35 tariff is now about £97! So even with the reduction to £20 a month, they still want that for the phone.

This price changed from free to £97 when they got the phone back in about March 1st, and they don't really have a justification except from it's just the way the market goes.

Does anyone, particularly those from O2, know if this is likely to change back to a lower price anytime soon? I don't want to go for a deal now, pay that for the phone, only to find out another week soon down the line that the phone has gone back down and I'm hugely out of pocket.

I've been offered the phone free on the £45 tariff reduced to £30, but that's a fair amount more over the year than just £20 if the phone was still free.

Any other phones about that have all the same features as the C905 (e.g. 3G, Wifi, A-GPS, etc.), or as close to that as possible.

    What does anyone think?

    Thanks,

    Graham.

It should start from next billing date. Depends when you upgraded.

Just got to say a big THANK YOU!!!!

After weeks of watching this forum my upgrade day finally arrived this morning! after the basic offer of nothing from upgrades (the Nokia 5800 isn't in stock, so call back next week???!!!) I asked to be put through to retentions where I spoke to the most lovely person in the world!!! Without any bartering on my part, she offered me the deal:

    600 mins
    1000 texts
    unlimited internet

    £20 per month!!!

The phone isn't in stock so she said she'd order it when it comes in.... so I got cheeky and asked if I could get one from a shop and then alter the deal to reflect it... and she said she wouldn't advocate it, but...... So I rang up the local shop and I'm picking up the phone tomorrow!! I've got the extension number through to the advisor in retentions and I can call her tomorrow!

Big result!!! One very happy girlie!!!

    So thanks everyone!!!!:T

  • hey,
I was just wondering if any one retention deals have had weird bills. I should be paying £20/month for online35. But my first bill was £18 and then my second bill was £9 odd. and should I tell them?! I think it might have something to do with the fact a returned my first handset (bold) for a blackberry 8900. By ordering the 8900 I had to upgrade again. Would be nice to hear from anyone about their experiences.. and whether I should be worried about possibly paying £35/month in the future. Thanks!

    Wow ginger! Well done.
What i find weird is, they said they wont give me a quote when the phone isnt in stock. So how did you get a quote when the phone is out of stock?

I've argued with them so much about that and the fact that the website still sells to new customers baffles me!

I'll just wait till monday, if not i'll take the w705 :T

If you do decide to get the W705, tell me what offer you get.
    Good luck :T

Just called up now. Originally offered:

    W705
    400mins
    2000txts (sure she said 2000?!)
    Unltd O2 to O2
    £25 18 months

I then mentioned unlimited internet bolt on, and she went away and came back with this:

    W705
    600mins
    1000txts
    Web Bolt On
    £25 18 months

I have decided the W705 is definately what I want, I'll not be holding on for the 5800. However not sure what to do about the contract. Other people have had that deal for £20/month recently, if I could get that then great.

However if I could get the 400 minute £20 you got offered then I'd consider that..... i'm not actually sure I'd use Web Bolt on, or whether I'd just use it for the first month as a gimmick but then not really afterwards. What does everyone think??
