Really disappointed with o2 retentions today. Phoned today to cancel my contract and expected them to better the offer I have from Vodaphone (£15 per month for 18 months, 75 mins and 250 texts) plus £90 cashback from Quidco. All o2 could do was match Vodaphone's offer but not the cashback. Did not even offer me a better phone or a lower rate. Been with o2 for 6 years. So much for loyalty. Vodaphone here I come!!0

Did you actually speak to retentions or "box standard" customer services? CS are not authorised to make anything much in the way of offers, and you usually have to ask to be put through to retentions.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
So, you were originally, not on a contract, i.e. simplicity. & You were still able to go through to retentions and get such a cracking deal?Just rang to cancel my simplicity sim because i wanted a N95...ive got
Free N95 8gb
400 anyone minutes
2000 texts
Free 02 to 02 calls
£25 a month for 18 months...im a happy bunny :j
I did have to mention a good deal on the vodaphone website and £90 Quidco0 -

I believe I spoke to retentions but am not 100% certain. When you call, you get a number of options of buttons to press like "press 2" to upgrade your phone and "press 3" to cancel your contract and I went for the option of cancelling my contract.
After I declined her offer, the lady I spoke to said I needed to cancel in writing and send an email to o2 disconnections. Have done this so maybe I will hear from the disconnections team and receive a better offer?0 -
OK, an update......
Phoned o2 retentions (made sure I was speaking to retentions) to make sure they had received my email confirming that I didn't wish to renew contract in April. After some heavy negotiation (they rejected my wish for a Sony Eriksson Limited Edition Phone at £10 for 18 months or a Motorola U9 at £15 for 12 months) I have finally settled on the following:
No new Handset
£180 credit to go into my account asap
200 mins per month
400 texts per month
free o2 to o2 calls
Nothing to pay for the first 12 months of my contract (covered by £180 credit)
£15 to pay during each of the last 6 months of my contract
Quite pleased with this as already have a decent handset anyway! :j0 -
Hi
Looking at phoning up retentions today or tommorrow to get a better deal on my contract which is currently £30 per month.
Don't really need any more minutes or texts but fancy a w960i phone which could be a battle. Looking at paying £25 per month or less ideally.
What details do i need to hand when i call up? As i'm not sure what security question I may have put if I had one?
Also the contract is in my partners name as it currently comes out of her bank account , will they only speak to her about this or will i be able to call them?
Thanks (Never done this before)
Hi - I just got a deal on the w960i
Was on 400 mins and 100 texts for £35 a month (12 month contract)
Just agreed :
w960i
600 Mins
1000 texts
Unlimited data (could have had free o2 to o2 or extra 1000 texts instead)
£20 a month (18 month contract) + £20 extra for phone
Can't decide if this was good deal, any thoughts?
Phone is comparable to iphone and seems to still be charged for on most networks!
By the way account holder will have to speak to o2.0 -
When you phone to cancel and say you are leaving, What deals are you saying your leaving for ?
I take it your saying your leaving and they ask what network/deal you are moving onto ?, What deals did you say your going to, for them to try and match/better ?
A couple of very good deals !! Especially "Look After The Pennies" :beer:0 -

Sound very similar to what I was offered when sorting out my dads contract, I however settled for this;
200 Mins
400 Texts
Unlimited O2 to O2 calls
For £10 a month..... + a £75 credit.
Works out at £0.83 a month more than you and got a free Nokia 6500 Classic which I think will be simple enough for him to use if he wants to keep it!
Regards

Hi,
I have been watching this thread for a few weeks now. Made the first call last week asking for w960i, offered me free phone and 200 mins, 400 texts for £20, was about to accept when she offered me free broadband. I already have o2 broadband and am paying £7.50 a month, would I get it free?, no she said.
Tried again this morning, offered w960i free and online 45 for £22.50, thats 1200 mins and 1000 texts, I would never use it but handy to have, I suppose. Asked if she could better it, no she said.
Called cancellations, she asked me what the problem was, told her about the offer, asked if she could do it for £20 a month (these are all 18 month offers), she said she couldnt but could offer me free broadband. I said I alraedy have o2 broadband and was paying for it, she asked me to hold a minute.
She came back and said she could not do the price any lower but could ring up o2 braodband and credit my account with 12 months payment - RESULT!
Final deal:
18 Month Contract
W960I - Free
1200 anytime minutes
1000 texts
Unlimited web bolt on
£7.50 x 12 credited to my broadband account
£22.50 per month
I am very happy with that deal :j
Cheers Michael0
