signed up to my contract in dec 2007 got a call from o2 yesterday saying i could upgrade start of march? though you had to wait until the month before so i make that july 09 or am i wrong?
Also im on £35 a month tariff unlimited txt well upto 3000 a month also 600mins.
when i renew i would like to get the nokia n96 as i have the n95 8g at the mo.
what sort of deal do you think would be a good to to haggle to get?
Also do i upgrade in march or wait till the summer because ive heard the new nokia n98 will be out jun/july time therefore would surly get a better deal when the new nokia is out?
or last thing i promise do i just forget renewing and go for a sim only deal my local o2 store had an offer of unlimited txt 800 mins and free o2 to o2 calls for £19.83 a month

I was on a 12 month contract but came off that for the £15pm simplicity option (been on this about 6 months now). Has anyone else had retention offers after doing this?0
-
Apparently they can only offer you what they have in stock at the time. Just called now and the 5800 IS BACK IN STOCK! Get going if you want one i guess. One is on its way to me now
I was on a £30 18 month contract with 400 mins and 1000 texts. I have just called again as i was getting impatient and couldn't push for anymore so settled for the 600 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited web and free home broadband at £20 a month. Quite pleased with that!0 -

Argh, that's a bit annoying. I called up this morning to order the 5800 only to be told it was out of stock! I settled for the Nokia E71 instead... not sure whether to call back now and try and change it. I got a slightly less good deal than you too, although its more than adequate for my needs.
600mins/500texts/unlimited internet for 20pm, no home broadband but I'm living in university halls at the moment so I have no need for that.0 -

You wouldn't get a great deal on the N96, they can't normally discount tariffs or phone cost on the N96.. at this minute anyway.
The Simplicity deal you posted, that's a 12month simplicity contract available to everyone. Choice of free bolt on but they're advertising it with 02 to 02 calls..0 -

Going to have another punt at some point today and push for premium broadband, unlimited texts and unlimited web! shall let you know how it goes...
I would be interested to see if you get this, because that's what I'm after.
They offered me:
3000 mins
Sat and Sun as an extra free.(Not a bolt on.)
1000 texts
Unlimited web (Bolt on.)
But the phone choices were crap, for £45.
I currently have 02 broadband,so if I can get that as a credit/extra,then I'm quids in.
And I was going to get mobile broadband off them, via a dongle, but if I can get that on the phone,I can then get a cable to go between my phone and my laptop, and I can do it that way.
Post 1939 will tell you what I'm currently on.That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -

Very interesting! Our of interest do you have an order number yet or a DHL tracking number? I called again today and as told yes it is in stock. Then the lady put me on hold and came back saying a) it is actually out of stock and b) I "upgraded" to a simplicity contract last week so now can't get an upgrade until the middle of March after the 30 days of the simplicity contract.
Last week the guy did put me on a simplicity contract "so your bill stays low, and you can get the 5800 as soon as it is in stock, just call back everyday after 3 to see if it is in stock." At no point did he mention i'd be tied in for 30 days.
I called back 5 minutes later and spoke to a different girl who said that the information re simplicity was incorrect as my simplicity contract doesn't kick in until Saturday and I have 14 days cool off anyway, so could indeed take the 5800 on a deal whenever. However it is still out of stock and now not expected until 2nd March! I thanked her for her help and agreed I'd wait till Monday to try again.
However I'm getting annoyed now, I've been waiting 2 weeks. I was initially told LAST Monday, that slipped to this Monday, and has now slipped until next Monday!! The O2 website has shown it as in stock for the last few days, and now you said you've got one on its way!!
I really like O2, been with them 5 years, customer service always been great but now they are just looking like a bunch of amateurs and every time I ring up it seems I'm being fobbed off. If they dont send me one tomorrow it will be PAC code time, Vodafone have it for £25 month 600mins/Unltd texts (plus £90 Quidco), or Orange have it through dial-a-phone £20 400mins/Unltd texts (no cashback, automatically £10 off bill each month)0 -
gavbennett wrote: »Having trawled through these retentions threads for a few days and picked up a few tips I have just called up and I have been offered the following on an 18 month contract for £20 a month with a free Nokia 5800
600 minutes
Unlimited Texts
Free standard home broadband
OR
600 minutes
Unlimited web bolt on
1000 texts
Free standard home broadband
What do others think to these offers? I would like combine the two to get unlimited texts and web bolt on, and push for premium home broadband too. Am I aiming too high!?
i would say you are definitely being over ambitious with that one, good luck though!0 -

the 5800 did come back into stock today for about two hours then went out of stock again so believe me you're not getting fobbed off with regards to your concern0
