my contract only ends on 25th march so i cant ring up on the 25th but O2 are launching a new mobile broadband deal on 27th feb with a free netbook / labtop ie samsung NC10 or R510
might be handy as a tool to use when trying to get a good deal
as a stand alone it looks expensive if it is a 24 month contract

hi all. Coming to the end of an 18 month contract with 02. Was paying £35/month for 600 minutes 1000 texts. Want to upgrade for an iphone but apparently there are no retention deals for the iphone, and the deals are the same as for new customers.
However was offered refurbished handset, on a £35/month contract, and there would be no cost for the phone (usually £95). Is that a good deal, or can i negotiate more for the iphone? cheers0 -

o2 don't have any play in the iphone tariffs / cost. Some agents may discount it but it's highly unlikely. It's all to do with Apple not allowing it more than anything. - Too many Ts and Cs in the contract with o2..
Recon iphone is out of stock though til March?0 -

sorry should have clarified...they offered me refurbished iphone for free on £35/month. that seems like the best they can do, because as you say, apple prohibit any discount so maybe i should just take this offer and save approx £100?0 -

Yeh, I know what you meant. I meant though that the reconditioned iphones are out of stock at the moment.. unless retentions have some that they're hiding! haha.
If you want to go for an iPhone, a reconditioned one is the best way!0 -

Ultracheapscate, that seems to be the standard retention offer, 40% discount £50 for a high end phone on £35 tarrif. Not sure if anyone has haggled them down further
Am I right in thinking you can change down tarriff after 9 months, if so can you keep the discount of 40%? I want the £35 tarriff (600 min), which will be £21/month, but if I take the £45 tarriff (£27) I'll save £50 on the phone and will pay an extra £54 in line rental (£6 x 9 months)...0 -
Phoned up earlier looking to upgrade from my current contract to a Blackberry contract with a Bold 9000, After the first call I was offered £24/mo for 600 mins 1000 texts and free blackberry online bolt on, managed to gt that down to £20/month in the end, couldnt get any credit on account though or shake the £50 payment for the phone, still a pretty good deal though I think - chuffed :T0

Nice one hedgemonkey,
Who did you talk to nor customer service or retentions?
Is it a 12 or 18 month contract?
How did you haggle to get it down to £20 per month?
I can upgrade in 2 weeks time and looking to get the BB 8900 curve.
Currently on a £15 per month 12 month contract with nokia classic 6500 don't mind paying a little extra!!!0 -
Just a quick question (two actually)!
I am hoping to move from 3 to O2. How easy is it to get a good deal out of them (I want a Sony C905) and how long into a 24-month contract would you be able to upgrade?
