Can I ask if anyone has got an offer on a simplicity 12 month tariff, or even the monthly rolling tariff?

I really don't want an 18 monther, 12 max, but has anyone had a discount or offer from retentions?

Yes - O2 will offer deals to keep you on a 30 day SIM only deal - see post 7 in this thread

  • So what are the best tactics for phoning up o2 these days? To be honest, I've never done the "I'm going elsewhere" trick before, but this year seems a good time to give it a try with the credit crunch and all...

What is the number have to call and what do people on here do when they get through? Are we better off just trying to negotiate right away or do we have to go through the game of attempting to cancel first?

I'm guessing I'd get a fairly good deal, as I've been an o2 customer for about ten years with an average monthly bill of about £40 or £50 - I'd normally get whatever phone I want, so I'm gonna go for the SE C905 and try and cut my tariff from £30 to £20!

If yer on a 30 quid tariff, and regularly spend 40-50 quid, why not UP your tariff to include the extra costs you incur, much more likely to get what you want, and still save a couple of quid in the process, you might get a higher tariff, but discounted back to about 30 quid...?
  • I have just rang up o2 upgrades to ask for my 4 month overdue upgrade. I pay around £20 odd quid and get 400mins and 1000 texts. I get the staff discount which gives me 30% off line rental. I want the LG Renoir but no one here seems to talk about it!! Is there anything wrong with it? Anyway upgrades said it wasnt available on my tariff but i would have to up my tariff!!! I am not using all my allowance now so dont want too. Is it worth ringing retentions??
    Thanks for all your help.

My 18 month contract ends in a months time, and I'm currently on the long weekend package, which consists of:

    1200 min
    1000 texts
Unlimited weekend calls to ALL networks Sat/Sun/Mon
    Samsung G600
    £50pm.

Now obviously the package is quite good for my needs, but I would like to badger them into giving me something better, insofar as a reduction in rate,a new phone, and maybe for them to throw in a mobile broadband dongle, (They'll also get my business on payg for mobile broadband.) and the reason is because I also have 02 home broadband, and my Wife and 2 daughters are 02 customers as well,so I think they can see that I already spend a bit with them,so they could be flexible.

    What do you think?
That's my mutt in the picture above.

They won't match the Solo 20 deal from T-Mobile at moment, which is very weird. If you don't need a high end phone I'd go SIM only with anyone of the major providers, although the Solo 20 deal is the best out there at the moment if you want unlimited texts, unlimited internet and a reasonable amount of minutes.
  • Hi,
Can someone remind me what the O2 retentions number is please? I've tried to look through this thread but at over 90 pages, it was starting to take a while.
    Thanks

I think there is a direct number somewhere, but phoning the usual O2 Customer Services number and going through the options to "if you are thinking of leaving O2" will get you through to the right people....
  • I'm on simplicity £20 (1000 texts, 600mins) at the minute, 30 day contract.
Been with O2 6 months now.
Told them was considering leaving, managed to get the following:
    600mins
    2000 texts
Unlimited O2 to O2 calls (although can have unlimited internet or any other bolt-on if I want)
    Free Nokia 5800

For £20 a month, for an 18 month contract. Pretty darn good deal i'd say! Had the choice of the 5800 or £150 on my account, so 7.5months free line rental which would give an effective monthly cost of £11.68 or something. Took the phone though, couldn't resist!

I Phoned up today and I get
    1200 min (anytime xnetwork)
    1000 text
    Unlimited Internet (Bolt on)
    Samsung Pixon
    For £27pm

Go for it, they told me it's a 40% discount on my account,I only asked for a PAC code and compared it to another deal on the web.
