Hey, had o2's online 30 deal with a fiver knocked off. Started an 18 month contract last christmas, and my contract ends in June.
Had a w910i, which broke and since didn't have the joy of owning insurance have put up with !!!!!! replacement for a very long time. I calculated that I've paid just under £500 over the course of the contract, which more than comfortably covers their initial costs.
Do you reckon I'd get a decent free upgrade? Or will I have to wait closer to the summer? I've seen some of the previous posts and I'm floored by the deals you managed to wangle!

So, what is the best method for obtaining a cracking deal (like the ones above)?
My current deal is a 12 month £30/month contract, which finishes in 3 weeks.
I am looking for something in the region of 400 minutes, 600 texts and a free BlackBerry curve (8900) for £20/month (18 month contract is fine). Would also like unlimited internet/data too.
Am I being overly optimistic with what I am looking for?
When I phone O2 in a few weeks, do I ask to be put straight through to cancellations? once there, do I simply ask for my PAC code and let the cancellations person take it from there? Or should I be upfront about it and simply say that I am looking for a good retentions deal and see what they offer (if anything).
Thanks,

looks like you can phone them now. i would phone and ask what the deals are on the phone you want and see what they offer you. then basically tell them what you want if you dont get offered it phone back and say a mate got offered what you want.
I actually phoned (CS, not retentions) a few days ago, and my contract is up on March 28th and he said I could phone up for my PAC code on February 28th. I take it that retentions wouldn't offer me anything until my PAC code date is here?0 -

So, after having a browse, and seeing the above deal, i decided to give retentions a call today. I got through to a lovely girl and explained what had happened when i called to upgrade yesterday. After telling her i'd been looking at a blackberry for work, she pottered about and came up with this, which i think is fab:
1200 anytime minutes
1000 texts
unlimited internet/data
and BLACKBERRY BOLD FREE!!!!! :T
all for £26 pcm
She had previously said i could pay £48 for the phone and pay £25 pm for 600mins and 1000 texts and the free data, but for the extra £1 i am well pleased!!!:j
Been told that they cannot reduce the tariff from £27 but clearly that's not true!
What's this about being unable to add any other bolton (apart from the compulsory Blackberry internet/data bolton)?
Unlimited weekend would be nice.
Still shopping around, searching and searching all networks under the sun for the best deal! Go MSE!
EDIT: What do you guys think of having a Blackberry as a simple multimedia phone ie not for business use? Don't want an iphone or other touchscreen phone, the N95 8GB seems bulky and rather dated (I know it's a great phone) and all the others seem unappealing.
Can a regular joe use a blackberry for simple things like music, web browsing etc?
You can always check your emails individually by logging on to the various sites like Yahoo and Hotmail can't you? I rely on my phone for organising stuff and reminders etc.Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -
Just rang up, quoting the Vodafone deals with the 5800, and been offered:
18 Months
Nokia 5800
1200 mins
1000 texts
Free bolt on
£27 month
Seems a good deal, it is a £45 month tariff to new customers, so a good discount. To be honest i wont use those minutes, tried for cheaper contract but he said he couldn't offer any discount on cheaper tariffs and that was the best deal?
It is a good deal, but i'd prefer nearer £20 month, and would be willing to take less minutes, what does everyone reckon? (the offer is valid for 7 days he's put a note on my account; planning to ring up after the weekend)0 -

Kevin,
It's best to phone upgrades and sound genuinly interested in upgrading. Just say you want 400min / 600text and the blackberry bolt on.. with the Curve. They'll come back with a normal contract. Just say on the lines of.. "Oh, I think I'll take Vodafones offer".. then you'll be passed through to retentions. It always looks better when an upgrades advisor passes someone through as it's clear they're not just trying to get anything and everything!
Your after the blackberry bolt on, off the top of my head.. you're looking at about £35 pm with a free blackberry bolt on, so you should get a loyalty discount for what you're looking for.0 -
hi - i just got the nokia 5800 for £19.58 p/m for an 18 month contract with 600 mins, unltd texts and unltd web and they threw in a £50 arcadia voucher as well.
I'm happy as I don't have to bother with cash back/redemption, I keep my no and I can now browse the web on my phone.
And I got 1000 texts which sit in the background which I can use for MMS or texting when I'm abroad
I'm happy.
I called 3 times to get this but on my last call my first words were........... can I have my PAC number please! Then I told them about the deal i found on the web for a simliar no of mins but only 3000 texts for this phone and didn't mention that it was a 24mth contract and had no web bundle and this is what they came back with.
I did ask for a further discount on my broadband but they said no!
My first offer was a 600 mins, 1000 txt & unltd web for £25/month with any of the following phones: blackberry curve, LG renoir, nokia 6220, nokia n78, nokia n95 (8g), samsung pixon or tocco or sony c905
hope that helps someone0
