Was on a 12 month deal, with 400 mins and 500 texts. Called 02 4 times, each time got offered a rubbish deal. Apparently this was the best deal the system would allow.
Finally had to give in and got:
200 mins
400 texts
£125 credit ( could have got nokia 6300/palm treo 500)
£15 a month for 18 months - works out to be £8.05 a month
Still got 14 days to cancel, anyone got any ideas?0 -
did you go through to retentions xray?0

Yes, I think so. I called 202, then selected 2, then 2 again. It was the cancellations department.
Even though I was on the £35 tariff, I never went over, and hardly used much of my free minutes and texts, that may have been the main reason I didn't get offered a good renewal.0 -

I would just like to point out to all the people who are thinking of getting the C905, be warned that I ordered my one in november and since then I am on my fourth one as they keep breaking. I have also heard numerous other people that have had the same problem0

Thank you Rui, that was the phone I was thinkinng about.
Just a quick update, I phoned back retentions today quoting a deal I saw on onecompare.
I was told that I had to wait until I was within 30 days of my contract ending to get the deal I wanted.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -

What problems have you had with them?0 -
Am quite pleased with myself after sorting out a deal with Carphone Warehouse / O2 today
Previously:
200 minutes
200 texts
£30 per month
Credit of £300
ie. £5 per month
This was a sim-only deal for 12 months but often went over 200 minutes so we ended-up paying full whack for about 3 months.
Rang CPW customer services a few times today - first time got offered sim-only deal of £15 per month for 400 minutes + 500 texts fo 18 month contract. Rang again and got offered same deal for £10 per month, but required us to send in bills every few months for cashback.
Spotted deal on Phones4U website for Samsung J700 phone on same tariff (ie. 400m + 500t) plus £420 cashback by redemption for 18 month contract which worked out at £6.67 per month.
Rang CPW again, first person couldn't help but put us through to someone who could (assume this was Retentions). Lots of to-ing and fro-ing and debates over the hassle involved in getting cashback, cost of recorded delivery, etc etc. Couldn't match the deal with the phone, but agreed on:
sim-only contract
400 minutes
400 texts
18 months at £5 per month (no cashback involved)
- normally £25 per month.
Well chuffed! Thanks MSErs - couldn't have done it without you :-)0 -
I have been on simplicity 20 since September (1000 texts, 600 mins and free internet). I would like to get the Sony Ericcsson C905 on a similar deal but only really need around 400 mins, 600 texts and free internet. I have a few questions which i wonder if you can help me with so i can get the best deal possible.
Do i just ring up 202 then option 2 then option 2?
Should i quote the mobiles.co.uk of a C905 on orange with an effective monthly cost of £25.28 with 600 mins and unlimited texts?
I don't particularly want to leave O2 but i am just trying this to see what deal i can get, what if they just say no send me my pac code and cancel my contract?
What deal am i likely to get or am i even likely to get anything because i have only been with them a short time and i guess im not a valued customer?
Also what are the chances of getting a 12 month deal?
Any tips are appreciated on how i can get the best deal.0
