I've just got off the phone and was offered this

    1200 minutes
    1000 texts
    1 bolt on
    Free weekend calls
    2 months free home internet
    Free Sony C905

    £37 a month from £45

When I told her my 'friend' got £27 a month for the same deal, she said she either didn't take a phone or misunderstood as it's £27 plus VAT. :(

Well with the exception of the weekend calls I got the same offer on the X1 for £27, couldnt get the broadband as I dont live in the area though....but was offered it free for 18 months

Maybe you dont have as good a 'reward balance' or whatever it is called?

    Thanks for the info, Curlywurly.

Just called retentions and quoted your offer and they've matched it , so I got:
    400 mins
    1000 texts
    Unlimited Web Bolt-On
    £150 credit
    £15 a month.

Works out at £6.67 a month over the 18 months!

Hi, I was just wondering when you quoted curly wurly's deals when calling o2 retentions, did you just say 'my friend got this deal' and do you actually threaten to leave? thanks for your help. x
  • Hi there, that deal sounds brill (and I have 14 days to cancel mine) one thing the £150 credit - is it one of those redemption deals or do you get no bills till its used up. How does it work?
    much appreciated
  • The £150 credit is first used to pay your monthly bills until it runs out then you start paying your agreed monthly fee.

 Can I ask what tariff you were on before? I'm on online texter 50 and pay at least £50 a month as well as my broadband service before I moved. I've been with them for ages as well.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

Just agreed my deal with retentions.

Have gone from the Online 25 Texter, 200 Mins, 400 Texts, 1MB download

Typical monthly bill £33, although have been £40 March to May last year.

    Sony Ericsson C905
    600 Minutes
    1000 Texts
    Unlimited Web

    £25 excluding VAT

I used the mobiles.co.uk offer for the Orange Dolphin 35 tariff which with redemption came to £27.22 a month without the Internet.

Hope this helps others, not the best deal ever but a good one, I am probably one of their least "valuable" customers.

thanks for posting that. i was thinking of quoting mobiles.co.uk. I want the htc touch pro but they only have deals on the diamond =( do you think they check the website to see what you are saying is true? thanks for your help.

Phone up and just about agree a deal with Agent A using the mobiles.co.uk site as your baseline, get their name and extension.

Phone up an hour later having "thought about it", get Agent B, say that you agreed a deal with Agent A, can you be passed to them.

You get "no I'll help you"

At this point you're in a position to blag it a bit which I did regarding the other offer on Mobiles.co.uk, I told him what I was offered, then said that on mobiles.co.uk it works out £3 cheaper (but it didn't have a free bolt on which I didn't mention)

Ultimately he only reduced it by a couple of pound from my original £30 inclusive of VAT offer from Agent A.

    Hi littlesewer.

I told them my friend got the deal rather than quoting it was from this website.

Although, a few days earlier and speaking to the upgrades (not retentions) team they had offered me the exact same deal but with a Nokia 6220 instead of the £150. So I was only really negotiating on the 6220 vs £150 credit.

Yes, I may have been able to sell the phone on eBay for more than £150 and got the cash straight away but I thought the hassle of listing and the posting the phone wasn't worth it over getting a clean and nice £150 credit!

And there is no redemption - it is credit on my account. So effectively I won't be paying any money to O2 for the first 10 months!
  • My contract is up for a renewal now and i was on 600mins 500txt with free wknd calls and ITS £35 a month O2 Cocoon.

I have been offered now from the upgrade department:
    free LG renoir
    600mins/500txt
    unlimited wknds
    1 bolt on
    £25 a month

Do you think this is a decent deal or can i push for more without biting my own nose off? My average bills over the previous 18mth have probable been around 40 odd quid?

    Thanks
