I phoned retentions today and they said system is down again. The person on the phone said they telling people to ring back after 11 tomorrow.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

    Same here.

Have been calling the past few days and been told the same old "call after 12 noon tomorrow" as their system is being upgraded. Wish they'd get it sorted.

It was back up yesterday lunchtime and got myself a good deal (in my opinion anyway!)

    Currently on £30/month (12 month)
    200 mins
    200 txts

Was originally offered same mins/txts with free C902 for £25. Needless to say I wasn't overly impressed so did some digging about online and saw Orange were offering Dolphin 25 for £19.57 (200 mins, unlimited txt, 18 months).

Finally got through to Retentions, said I wanted to leave for Orange and was immediately offered 200 mins, 400 txt, unlimited O2 to O2 calls for £15 a month including free c902 (18 months).

Probably sell the phone on eBay for £160 so monthly rental effectively drops to around £6, assuming the wife doesn't blow the money on more tat from eBay (yeah, like that won't happen!)

All in all, well worth a 5 minute call to Retentions.

On the topic of the systems being down, I work in a call centre and while it's not uncommon fthat systems are unavailable I'm surprised they're still having problems. Someone in system support needs a rocket up their a**e!

The gumpf about an 'upgrade' is standard call centre waffle, which roughly translates to 'we've no idea what's going on but we have to tell the customers something'.
  • Called around 6pm and systems were back up.

    Got offered 200 mins/400 texts + unlimited 02-02 @£15/month on 18 month contract with £150 credit.

Quoted the T-mobile solo 15 deal and they upped my minutes to 400 mins/1000 texts + unlimited 02-02.:j

    400 mins & 1000 texts + unlimited 02-02 - you got that for £15 a month & £150 credit. What do I need to ask for?

Out of interest, what tariff were you originally on?

Starting to think I should've pushed for a bit more...

Well, i just got off the phone, and the X1 hs literally just gone out of stock apparently ... words cannot express how annoying that is :-p

    at the moment im paying £35 a month (18 months) for 500 texts, 600mins, unlim02-02 calls ...

    they offered me

    BlackBerry Bold for Free
    1200 mins
    1000 mins
Blackberry unlimited (internet and email, basically)
and mobile broadband for my laptop
    for £42 per month ...

£42/month seems pretty steep. I think they can push it down to £27/m seeing as to how you are (in their words) a loyal customer. Heh. They should be doing the 40% discount on the £45/month tariff.

but i really dont want to pay more than the £35 im paying now, which i dont think the guy really understood, i told him im not really interested in mobile broadband, and i dont even need that many mins ... but oh well, i'll call back another day and see what they have.

Also, free reconditioned iphone, unlimited data, 500 texts and 600 mins for £35 a month, which is as it has been for a while ... i thought we would get better deals on the iphone by now? ...

either way, im a little stuck as to what i should do next, hmmm ...

You could try waiting until the Xperia comes back in stock. Really sorry to hear about it being out of stock. Just a few hours after me as well! Must have been a lot of people asking for that phone as well. I don't understand why they need to have separate stock for current and new customers. A customer is a customer no?

Ah well. Hope you get what you're after mate :)
  • Just cancelled my contract with 3 mobile. During my conversation with their retentions dept, they mentioned something called a 'Continuation of Agreement' which is where ownership and title of the offer (which I turned down) could be transferred other parties.

My dad's contract is also up for renewal and I am wondering if such a scheme exists with O2.

    Thanks
  • @ Buckster - I quoted the T-mobile solo 15 deal which offers 350 mins, unlimited texts + 2 months free with cashback (quidco) and they immediately matched it with the 400 mins+1000 texts+unlimited o2-o2 for £15 and promised £150 credit as they were locking me into an 18 month deal without a new phone.

@ hc_1540 - I was on a £35/month, 12 month contract giving 400 mins + 500 texts (was through e2save with cashback so didn't really pay anything but had the cashback hassle).
  • im currelnty on a 12mnth contract for £30 a mnth wiht a £15 discount with o2 (it ran out in december)and just rang, i am after the c702 (i need a pretty robust phone as i spend a lot of my time lying in puddles in the dark) but they want to put me on a £35 tarrif with £15 discount. so for £20 i get something like 600 mins and umpteen free texts, which sounds dead good. except my average usage per month is 60 to 70 mins and about 4 texzts, so i am paying for stuff i dont need. what do u think my chances are of getting this any cheaper or should i just look elsewhere?
