For the last two days ive been calling retentions and been told to call back the next day as their systems are down ... is everyone else getting the same or no?

also, any news on the better iphone deals hinted at for the new year?

From what ive heard so far, retentions seem to be generous in the last week or so, so im positive, curretnly on £35 a month 600 mins, 500 texts 02-02 unlimited calls ...

this time, looking for unlim internet, about 400 mins and 1000/unlimited texts as well as either an X1 or BBBold... any ideas as to what sort of price id be looking at?

Though, i'll be asking about the iphone too!

The systems for contract customers are "experiencing technical difficulties" to say the least. Most departments are continuing to run but retentions have decided to close until its fixed as they are using another system that is also playing up. So don't worry, you're not being fobbed off. xx

Same here. Been calling for three days actually. First day phone was out of stock.

BUT it's up today! Just got off the phone with them and was offered the standard £45/m for 18 months for

£45/m discounted to £27/m (she tried to put me on a £31.5/m!)
    1200 minutes
    1000 text
    Bolt on
    Xperia X1 for £48.92

After 9 months I can drop to a lower tariff she said. The usual 14 day return thingy applies.

When I called the first time and was told that the phone was out of stock, I was offered a refurb iPhone. So yes, the deal is live...But I didn't look further into it as I really have no love for the iPhone. Make sure you've played with it before you decide. To each his own they say. I personally do not like it.

I was told that they are only offering the X1 on a £45/month upward. So that's 1200/1000 minutes/text. But that was on my try. Maybe you'll get a better shot at it?
But from what I've seen, the deal for the X1 is within that price range. If you're lucky maybe you could get the £27/month with a free phone?

    G'luck mate!

    WoW nice one

can you give us some details?
How hard did you have to push?
Who did you talk to name/department?
What tariff were you on before?
    Haggling methods?

    cheers now

I didn't have to push all that hard tbh, I said to them Orange is offering me a particular deal, given I get staff discount and all. Which was't too far from the truth. I told them I would get unlimited txt's and blackberry service addon with around 600 mins for 25 quid a month. They put me on hold and came back with that offer, basically it wasn't much they gave me it outright it essentially matched the deal and bettered it.

For myself my haggling method was how much I spent each month, I said each time any network would cry out for my business given my expenditure irrespective of the price plan I am on it is always going to be high. Sure enough they came round to my way of thinking, I am not particularly fussed about price and reneged on 12 months just to make it cheaper, but the thing I found with blackberry is I won't be wanting to change the phone, so the lengthy contract won't be too much of an issue for me.

As for name/department......am not able to tell you that due to the fact I ashamedly can't remember .

It's a good deal, though if orange can match or better the deal then I will go with them merely as I know how the company works and can get round certain procedures.

  • Well, i just got off the phone, and the X1 hs literally just gone out of stock apparently ... words cannot express how annoying that is :-p

    at the moment im paying £35 a month (18 months) for 500 texts, 600mins, unlim02-02 calls ...

    they offered me

    BlackBerry Bold for Free
    1200 mins
    1000 mins
Blackberry unlimited (internet and email, basically)
and mobile broadband for my laptop
    for £42 per month ...

but i really dont want to pay more than the £35 im paying now, which i dont think the guy really understood, i told him im not really interested in mobile broadband, and i dont even need that many mins ... but oh well, i'll call back another day and see what they have.

Also, free reconditioned iphone, unlimited data, 500 texts and 600 mins for £35 a month, which is as it has been for a while ... i thought we would get better deals on the iphone by now? ...

either way, im a little stuck as to what i should do next, hmmm ...
