    Good old o2.

Apparently when I changed my contract due to the 0870 changes I didn't actually sign up to Simplicity, only the 'benefits'. I thought being on a 1 month contract was one of the benefits?

So now they're saying I still have 6 months left of the previous 18 month contract I thought I'd got out of. He says on my notes I agreed to this but I don't see why I would? Why would I call and haggle for a worse contract? Supposedly it's been recorded and he's fishing it out and calling me back. I'll be angry if he claims i did agree to it.

Same thing happened to me. Many many phone calls and every time, I got different answer to the status of my contract. I believe there are some confusions among staff with regarding simplicity deal and simplicity tarrif. Finally got to a manager who credit my account with £20 but I have to stay to the end of my original contract.
  • You're making me worried now!lol I am expecting delivery of the N82; what were the main problems with the phone?

    Thanks in advance.

First one kept on freezing on me..
Second one was much worse.. kept on reseting itself (for no reason and restoring to default, so lost all the settings - luckily i backed everything up)
The memory card that comes with it (2gb with Nokia Maps on it) kept on seizing up, and when i took it out the phone ran perfect.. I have read that some others are having the same problems with the memory card.. see the nokia site forums for that..

Apart from that, it seems that i just had a bit of bad luck in the two that i got, from other reviews, (avforums and nokia forums.. they are a top quality phone.. with very little faults, but when they do go wrong, they go very wrong so i wouldnt worry too much)

    Hope that helps

Thanks for the info (and the reassurance :o), I'll keep an eye out for these problems! Even if it has these problems, I'm not sure I can do much about it (other than wait for firmware release to alleviate the problems) as the only other phones I like (N95-8GB, W960i) are not free on the £35p/m tariff.
  • Can anyone give me any advice..
Took delivery of N95 8gb today... it didnt turn on (bit strange), so charged.. then turned on and kept on crashing or totally resetting itself.. or vibrating and going off.

Ive had three phones from o2 now since Mid January.. 2 N82's and 1 N95 8gb.. o2 are replacing the N95 8gb 2moro.. ive had some bad luck and it seems there is nothing i can do... they will just send a replacement.

Ive had to take 5 days off work because of this.. when really, it should have only been one!! Ive had no credits to my account because of the inconvenience that is totally not my fault.. they dont seem to care.

I wasnt offered the N95 8gb free so took the N82, but with all the problems i had i got authorisation from a manager for a N95 8gb.. may be worth a try for you if you experience the same

I think you are right, but to be honest I would settle for a bug-free N82:rotfl:. I'm not really a fan of Nokias (more of a Sony Ericcson man!) because of all the bugs that are related to the Symbian operating system, but I took the plunge because SE haven't really improved on the K800i.

Anyway, I hope you have better luck with the next one:o! But having said that, the way that the mobile industry has headed it would be a miracle for anyone to get a newly released phone that is bug-free. It's all down to the fact that mobile manafacturers like the idea of using the customer to do the product testing rather than doing it themselves and wasting time and money!
  • I'm trying to get the silver N95 - just spoke to retentions and they offered it to me for £35 with 600mns and 500 txt. I countered by sayibng i saw it on onestopphoneshop for £20/mth (discounted tarriff for 12months). She said that they might be able to do £15 off and checked. She then came back saying the system had said no and that they couldn't do any better than the initial offer. She's generated a PAC for me but I figure I might as well phone up later.

Any tips on how to get that £15 discount off them? Or suggestions on how I could have followed up my initial request? I guess I could have asked what sort of leeway there was elsewhere but the minutes and txts are sufficient for me. The only thing that worried me was that she said net use is charged from now on...

    Hello again,

Ever since I asked for my PAC i've been receiving call from 0845 863 0287
I replied to the last one and it was a call centre following up my request for my PAC and to "see whether they could help me" (i'm guessing get me on a new contract)

I was a bit suspicious so said call me later, and looked the number on the net. There's conflicting info about it, but it does seem to be an O2 number. Has anyone come across it before? Should I proceed with it and see whether they can offer me what I want? I don't want to end up handing over my bank details to some cowboy outfit, but given that I've asked for my PAC do you think I could just phone 202 and say i got a call from number above, and see what they say about getting me on a new contract?

    Try here:
    Seems genuine
  • Just got off the phone to retentions. The final deal i got offered was the online 25 deal with a free nokia n95 8gb which is usually an extra £199. Decided to just take the £15 p/m simplicity for a while to see if any better deals can be had later on in the year.

thank you :) I haven't heard from them for a while, so will give it another week then phone 202 and see what happens.
