Thanks for your reply. I checked out the T-Mobile plan that you mentioned, but the cheapest 12 month plan that they have is £20 a month (includes £30 worth of extra texts/calls - works out at 150 mins or 300 texts (or a combination)). The SE K850i is £170 extra as well!
I'll keep looking for good comparisons to use as a bargaining tool and will let you know how I get on when I take the plunge.

If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0

Thanks again. But the best they do for the K850i is £20 p/m on an 18 month contract. I've searched everywhere else and that appears to be the best you can get (for the K850i anyway), but I really wanted to stick to 12 months. I guess I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and see what I get offered.0

I found that calling a couple of different people in retentions can help. I got my deal lowered to £20pm (750mins + 750texts was £35, they apply £15 discount pm), and got an Orbit XDA free (18months). But for you, I'm sure they can cut a decent deal if you keep pestering them.
I pestered them to the point where they accidentally applied the discount twice! (And they even extended the original discount from 12months to the full 18 for me).
Simply, keep trying (about 3-4 different people in 02 retention) and chance your arm. Good luck!0 -
Hi I am on a contract with O2 and always ring retention for my upgrade no-one else seems to help with discounting a tariff. I always get a 12 month because i like to keep changing my phone, much to ny husbands dissapointment! Anyway I upgraded and got 500 mins 500 texts for £20 per month plus the nokia N82,which had only just come out that week it took them ages to get a price for it, but i managed to get it free too, so i'm really happy with that. If you don't mind hanging on to your phone for longer why not go for an 18 month tariff you can usually get more minutes or texts. Good luck.Treat others how you would like to be treated.0

Thanks for your advice everyone. I'll hopefully get the chance to give retentions a call later so I'll let you know how I get on.0

hi feesh this has just happened to me aswell.
This morning i recieved a new phone and i've got 2 other peoples contracts and not mine.
these are very detailed and im worried where mine has ended up.
Im popping into CWP this afternoon to have a rant to and like a good MSE see if there will be some form of compensation.0 -
The first deal I was offered was £35 x 18 mths, 600 xnet mins, 500 txts and free evening and weekend calls on top, with £360 cashback. I think that might have included the Motorola Krzr.
The next deal I was offered was to keep my existing number and get 11 months free on a 12 month contract. 400 xnet mins, 500 txts, free evening and weekend calls exclusive of my 400 mins, for £35 per month. £385 cashback.
Now I have been offered, again to keep my number and get 11 months free on a 12 month contract for £40 pm, 600m mins, 500 texts, free evening and weekend calls. £440 cashback. So over the 2nd deal, it is an extra £5 in total for an extra 200 mins per month.
I am tempted to go for the last deal and buy a Samsung J600 payg for £50.
My daughter needs to keep her number as she is on the National Executive of a Youth movement and it would make life so difficult if she had a new number.0 -
After reading some of the deals flying about in the last 2 pages i thought i would chance my hand with o2 retentions. Not a great experience to be honest, i basically got offered the same deals as on the website after stating that i wanted a free n95 8gb for 20/pm on a 18month contract as dhan got.
I am going to ring them again before my contract expires on 27th Feb, but i am wondering whether i will get any good deals due to my low phone usage? I currently am on the Online 20 tarriff (£30 p/m 200mins/500txts) and i never go over my allowance. Could this be a defining factor in the shoddy...well, not existent deals, that i have been offered?0 -
Yeah it may and may not............i have just done what everyone else has been doing. I found a better deal with another company then 02 offered me 600 minutes and 1000 texts for £20 a month plus free 02 to 02 calls. They also gave me £180 cashback on my next bill as i did not want a new phone.
I would advise not to go on there and demand though, just be honest and say you're just trying to get the best deal for yourself and have been searching the market for the best deal.
