I left o2 in May 07 to go for a 12 month cashback with Phoneboxdirect on Vodafone.
If i wanted to go back to o2 again would i get a good deal or would i just be classed as a new customer?

You would be classed as a new customer. Loyalty discounts are only for continuous custom, as your account was ended then you go back to new customer.

I would push for unlimited texts (they cost little to source)- if you are signing an 18 month contract with O2 I advise you get them to email the details of your contract in case they "can't find them" at any time.

Im not that fussed with text to be honest ........... never use my 200 current limit........ is there any chance in hell of getting a 12 month contract with them!! even if it was 200 mins and 100 text....... ... is 12 month a posibility??

...and it contains their personal details! Address, name, phone number, details of handset and contract....unbelievable! I dread to think where my receipt has ended up, I am about to phone them and have a rant.

rare as hen's teeth - but then you could get it by paying a higher monthly rate .....

think of the current deal as 12months and an additional 3 ...... makes it easier to swallow.

I will be looking to get a similar deal for the wife who is currently out of contract and yaps on the phone for what seems ages ....

  • I'm after some advice on what sort of retention deal that I can expect to achive through O2 Online. I have never spoken to retentions before, so if anyone experienced in this could please provide me with some help then that'd be much appreciated.

My current situation is that my contract runs out next month (this is the end of my second year with O2 pay monthly (I was on O2 PAYG before) and I would obviously like to bring the price that I pay down as much as possible. My current deal is as follows:

12 month contract (includes new phone each year)
    £19 per month
    200 free texts
    50 free minutes

I would like to remain on a 12 month contract and get a new phone (I currently have a Sony Ericsson K800i (free) and would like an upgrader Sony Ericcson (again at no extra charge)). I'm not too fussed about the number of free texts/minutes but more would obviously be good.

So realistically, can anyone advise as to what sort of offer I should hold out for?

Thanks in advance for any help.
  • It very much depends who you get. The key is to have some deals to hand to quote - T-Mobile Flext is a good one, you'll have to research the current prices for 12 and 18 month contracts though.

I always go to the normal upgade line first, then when they don't give me anything good (last year when I said I needed more texts added to my 500 min and 500 text tariff they offered me 600 mins and 500 texts as all they could offer was a standard tariff) I asked for my PAC which then got me passed to retentions where I said T-Mobile could offer me x for £x, which was better value than O2 could offer, they then bettered it for me. Some people prefer to ask straight for retentions and demand a better deal or they'll leave. Either way, so long as you stand your ground they should sort you out.

If you want an upgrade and want to keep to SE phones just look at what other networks offer deal-wise for that handset and be prepared to quote it. You should get a K850 for free on any O2 deal now.

Let us know how you get on!
If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.
