It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

Just thought I would add what I was offered today:

I rang up and mentioned the £27pcm 1200 min 1000 text & bolt on deal that others have said they've got, and asked for the SE C905, and they pretty much offered the deal straight away, but wouldn't budge on the £49.99 for the phone.

I've said I'll think about it but seeing as I'm on £25pcm at the mo and only get 200 mins and 400 texts I think it's a pretty good deal. I just wish the phone was free!

I was also told to wait. I signed up for simplicity, and was told by the time I could legitimately upgrade (min 30days), that there would be some far better deals available...iPhone/Tocco and Pixon were the names I mentioned, but who knows what deals will actually be available???

    Any insider info anyone?!

  • Hi, My contract is coming to an end early Dec with o2. My current contract is 12 months - online 35 months -less £8.52 discount a month and had a new Samsung Pink E900 plus £50 good customer credit. = £25 month approx. 400 mins and 1000 texts.

Telephoned them today and they just pushed Simplicity Sim, (if i wanted something cheaper). Told me they are not offering anymore 12 month contracts. But could give me £100 credit if i didn't take a phone.

    I asked what they would give me if I took a phone and they would only give me the following choice;
75 mins / 250 texts. for Nokia 6300 or Nokia 7610 at £20 month with no customer credit or any discounts.

I said that i was looking for a better deal and if i wasn't offered anything else i would have to go elsewhere. She just said ok, the Simplicity is the best for you and you could leave anytime with that, its up to you if you want to leave. Thats all we are offering you.

I have been with them for 3 years on a contract and P.A.Y.G. before that.

What website do i start looking at next for the best deals?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was also offered the 75 mins/250 texts deal (Yesterday), 18 month contract but no phone upgrade (didn't want a new phone)
She said it was £20/month, discounted to £10/month.
I was then told I had £125 loyalty credit against that, paying for 12 and a half months, leaving me to pay £55 to the end of the contract.

I took it as I also have a positive balance of £34 from previous sim-only renewals, which makes the cost £21 for 18 months.

The only other thing to suggest is to try different numbers from O2 and see if it's just one department that aren't playing ball. This really doesn't bode well for my contract renewal, which is in late January:(.

Spoke to Retentions about the X1 directly this time, and they said the same thing. Definitely can't do any discounts until I've been on Simplicity for 11 months (after which they could do the £27 deal, where the phone is £49.99).

Is this eleven month rule something other people have experienced?

I am a happy bunny today!!

was on a 12 month contract 35 pm tariff that gives 400mins and 500texts(was a redemption deal through dialaphone)....after 9th month dropped tariff down to 25per month with just 75 mins plus an unlimited landline bolton for 7.5 a month.

it was the complete of 11th month today. gave them a call (202 -->2 and 2)in the morning and straight away been told i got a good loyalty reward waiting for me a whopping 40% discount on line rental. was offered XDA phone for 9.9 and 27a month for 18 months to give 1200xmins and 1000texts plus a free unlimited web. i am not a heavy user so said i would only need 200 mins a month.....he offered me 15 a month for 18 months for 200mins 400 texts plus unlimited o2-o2 and the phone still costs 9.99. i said i want to reduce the bills and told em that i wnat to buy hte phone outside so it all settled down to.....

    NO NEW PHONE
    10 a month for 18 months
200x mins and 400 texts plus unlimited o2-o2 calls
a free 150 credit to my account as not wanted a phone.
plus one year free o2 broadband with free wireless router......in the end i only pay 30 pounds for a 18 months contract with free broadband and router....ofcourse no new phone.....but i could get one off ebay if i wanted......
thanks for all those who helped me to bargain this deal.....all my discussion lasted only 17 mins. saved my time and theirtime as well....

If you're newly signed up to Simplicity (i.e. you weren's using O2 on pay monthly before) then that rule is perfectly justified. However if you changed to Simplicity after your contract ended the minimum term is only a month and they should give you a deal.

I do know that O2 are trying to put people off upgrades until January as their subsidy budget has run rather thin (same thing's happening at T-Mobile). I believe chances of getting a deal depend on the person you get, obviously, and will be much better in January.
