  • My contract with o2 is due to end Dec 24th and I have been told that from Nov 24th I can start looking at renewing should I chose too.

But what should I do next?

Heres some background, 3x o2 mobile contracts under my name, for me husband and daughter.

The 1st contract to expire is mine. when I took out this contract it was an online20 Tariff with a free LG shine.

I don't go over my monthly allowence, and have never missed a payment.

So I guess my question is - Could I get a Sony Erricsson C702 if I renew? I'm not so sure as it is quite a new phone isn't it?

Anyway theres about 10days left until I can start calling them but I have read some people getting very good deals from o2 I just don't know how to get what I want with in reason of course.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Lisa xxxx

We have learned that 'low users', yourself and myself included in that bracket, are not priority to o2 anymore, and you have less weight with them to get a shiny new phone. If you'd spent £50 pm on your contract for the last 18months you'd get a better deal im afraid.

Best bet is to ring them and get the ball rolling now. Find out what kind of deals they may offer, some phones they just dont sell, so you'd have to check the C702 with them. Chances are you will have to ring them 3/4 times before you get a decent salesperson who may be more amenable.

I Totally agree. we are four in our family all on o2 contracts. usually 18 mths contracts @ £20 or £25 per month.
at the first upgrade this year we were offered really rubbish phone and for a half decent phone - the samsung Tocco they wanted £55 per month:eek:
we got our pac code and have moved to orange online. Got the samsung Tocco for £120 one off payment and £20 per month for 200 min and unlimited texts ( this is my teenage son's phone so uses more texts...)
go through quidco and get £150 back at the minute.paying for the phone and 1 months lins rental....
    its an 18 month contract.....
we will allo be changing when our contracts are up...
i had been with o2 for 10 years......

There is a flip side though. We have been informed that the currently high-demand phones will be reduced soon. There are MSE moles at o2 willing to share limited info :) ive taken simplicity for the moment, but will be going back to o2 soon for a revised offer once the deals are better. Have tried other providers and only had similar or worse customer service and always worse network issues elsewhere. o2 are good and they know it, so it's hard to beat a deal out of them! Have been reliably informed the Tocco and iPhone will both be cheaper soon, so holding out for those... :)

I've got 2 x SIM only upgrades from O2 over the last month.

Given the average type phones they offered me for £20/£25 pm I took these SIM only deals (which I thought were very good) and will put the money to buying a phone from eBay. This will work out (roughly) as an extra 25% saving taking the phone and contract cost into account.

I was told that thay can't do any deals on a phone that's been released within the past 3 months.

  • My o2 contract has just come to an end. I am planning to go fot the Samsung i8510 via mobiles. co.uk (as you cannot get it driect from o2).

The deal is free phone with 8months 1/2 price line rental on a £35 pm contract with 600 mins (any network, anytime) and unlimited txts. Also, I am purchasing through TopCashBack so £40 cashback!!

Sound any good? It has a 8 megapixel camera so saves me getting a much needed new camera for xmas now!

It could have a 800 megapixel camera, but at the end of day it's down to how good the lens is, not the megapixel count. It's a marketing ploy that many many people sadly fall for, especial with digital camera's.

ncd is right. I can wager a good deal that my 6MP digital SLR will do many, many times better than any 8 megapixel phone camera, or any 12 MP point and shoot for the matter.... :p
