Hey guys. I've a question to ask (will probably sound silly so please don't shoot me down? *teary-eyed puppy face* :P)
My 12 month contract expired about a month ago and I've been on the simplicity plan till now. Looking to upgrade to the xperia x1 but they don't seem to have the phone in stock? Rang them up asking for my PAC code last week and was told that the phone would only be available this week. The guy was kind enough to point out that they would give me a better offer once they actually have the phone in stock.
However, when I called yesterday (that would be a saturday), the lady seemed clueless. Not only did she not know which phone I was referring to, she was being very rude about it. No persuasion whatsoever. Merely said the phone's not in stock and that my PAC would be sent out.
So, my question is that normal? Don't they try to "retain" the customer at all? No offer was even attempted. Merely "sorry we don't have the phone in stock - here's your PAC". I'm quite put off by her nonchalance to be honest.
Anyways, if anyone could answer my questions, I'd be ever so grateful (I'll list them down so it makes it easier):
1.Is it possible to ring them again and haggle for a deal?
2.Once the PAC is sent, do I have to use it or can I just ignore it and stay on o2?
3.Can they offer me a deal without the phone being in stock. It's not like they don't know how much the phone cost.
4. My monthly phone bill can be quite high and I've another number with them - would that carry any weight at all?
Not quite sure how to go about this, so any form of help would be greatly appreciated0 -
Firstly, I shall confirm that the Xperia X1 is not in stock as far as the retentions team are concerned. There may be a few in the O2 stores here and there but they're sold at the O2 store prices (free on £75 tariff only, no discounts).
Now to answer your questions:
1. Yes you can, but since you have your PAC you might need to pursue different negotiation tactics. Make them think you're going to use it and are giving them one last chance to do a deal.
2. You can let the PAC expire if you so wish. It is valid for 30 days after it is issued.
3. As far as I know, no.
4. Depends on whether it's on the same account as the number you're trying to upgrade, but I believe the answer is 'no'.0 -
Ah...Thanks for that
So I guess the next best time for me to haggle something with them is once the phone is listed as in stock?
Was hoping I can get the phone before December. Oh well, just have to wait longer I suppose. Let's hope my patience pays off.
I might give the retentions another go if anyone has any ideas? :P
Once again, thanks for the reply!0 -
My contract expires at the end of this month, do I need a pac code to port my number to another network?0

Small question I cannot find the answer to:
I'm on the 30 day online £20 tarrif (600mins, 1000 texts). I've been on it since August - would I be eligible for any retention deals?
Cheers,

If you used to be on an O2 contract before you went on Simplicity I believe you are still eligible for a retention deal. Its best to call them and see what they give you. Personally I am really happy with the flexibility of SImplicity 20 and until August I was on an O2 contract.0 -
It seems those who have accepted the c905 on £27pm as well as £49.99 for the handset have been ripped off! You can get the c905 for £27pm with no other cost from 3.
I've been trying to get a good deal with this phone on two of my contract accounts which are currently on a discounted £20 12 month contract (should have been £35 a month). One of these accounts is always going over being at over £35 a month (duaghter is always overdoing it with texts etc) and i've still gotten nowhere with retentions!!
I'm going to try one more time this evening (have been told you've more chance of a better deal if you phone later in the day?).
If i still don't get two good deals with this phone, i'll just move to 3 for the £27pm deal.0 -
£40 cashback via Quidco too!0

You wont get any iphone deals yet even if you are Buzby!
For those of you that are too young to know what I mean:
