5th time on to O2 and have been offered the following:
750 mins/100 texts + unlimted data bolt on (or any other bolt on) + free Samsung Tocco or SE C902 = £20 pm
Wouldn't do the XDA Ignito or LG Renoir for less than £25pm so the limit to the £20 deals seems to be phones that cost circa £200 on O2's website.
The Blackberry 8110 was also £25 because apparently, even though the handset is cheaper, you need a 'special' Blackberry data tariff which is £10 pm in itself.
Apparently they no longer offer the LG Secret (even though it's still on the website).
The only other offer the lady I spoke to made was for the Palm Treo 500. Apparently I can get a 'good deal' on this but will have to wait until she rings me back on Thursday to find out what it is (dinner was ready).
Ant thoughts on these...
Cheers.
Just had a thought - I'm going to see if I can get a £250 handset i.e. Renoir, C905 or X1 for £20 pm and pay £50 for the handset. Seems logical to me but when has logic come in to retentions deals...
I was offered the LG secret on saturday, its odd that they no longer offer it considering the woman who offered it was saying how fantastic and modern it was!!!
If there is a phone that you really want then I say go for it and see what retentions offer you, if you're prepayed to pay £50 for the phone, which in the case of some of the new handsets is pretty good value, then it definately puts you in a good postion. Good Luck!!0 -
Just thought I would add what I was offered today:
I rang up and mentioned the £27pcm 1200 min 1000 text & bolt on deal that others have said they've got, and asked for the SE C905, and they pretty much offered the deal straight away, but wouldn't budge on the £49.99 for the phone.
I've said I'll think about it but seeing as I'm on £25pcm at the mo and only get 200 mins and 400 texts I think it's a pretty good deal. I just wish the phone was free!0 -
Contract's up in Dec (Online 25 - 200mins 400txts £25/mth), rang today and was offered:
Simplicity discounted from £15 to £10/mth for 6mths
(200mins, 400txts, unlimited o2-o2 which is important)
No phone or credit to account.
600mins 1000txts unlimited internet @ £20/mth with either £150 credit or Nokia 6220.
Tried for the Ignito but was told it would cost extra.
Could I get a better deal or should I accept the 6220? I really wanted unlimited Internet and unlimited o2-o2 with a decent Internet phone...0 -
Maybe take the £150 and buy a Ignito/Tocco etc online?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Hi,
I have just phoned O2 retentions at CPW and was offered the following deal on the LG KC780
18 month contract 600 min unlimited text and unlimited data bundle £25 pm with a free phone or 275 mins 400 text and free LG KC780 for £20 pm again on 18 month contract.
Tried to get a another £5 pm line reduction but would not budge and tried to get a 12 month contract but again they refused.
Could I get a better deal elsewhere without cashback? or should I keep trying with retentions?
Any thoughts?0 -

I was on the 200mins/400 text tariff too but was always over each month so the £27 deal for 1200 mins/1000 text/bolt on was a really good deal for me. It appears that £49.99 for the phone is the best you will get at the moment and seeing that its a new handset is pretty good vaule considering what you would pay full price or on ebay. If you really don't want to or can't afford to pay for the phone then ask them what free handsets they are offering. I was offered the Samsung Tocco, LG secret (which they aren't doing anymore I don't think) or SE C902. Try not to think about it for too long, that deal is the best they are going to offer you but the phones are going out of stock quicker than it has taken me to write this!0 -
Hi, My contract is coming to an end early Dec with o2. My current contract is 12 months - online 35 months -less £8.52 discount a month and had a new Samsung Pink E900 plus £50 good customer credit. = £25 month approx. 400 mins and 1000 texts.
Telephoned them today and they just pushed Simplicity Sim, (if i wanted something cheaper). Told me they are not offering anymore 12 month contracts. But could give me £100 credit if i didn't take a phone.
I asked what they would give me if I took a phone and they would only give me the following choice;
75 mins / 250 texts. for Nokia 6300 or Nokia 7610 at £20 month with no customer credit or any discounts.
I said that i was looking for a better deal and if i wasn't offered anything else i would have to go elsewhere. She just said ok, the Simplicity is the best for you and you could leave anytime with that, its up to you if you want to leave. Thats all we are offering you.
I have been with them for 3 years on a contract and P.A.Y.G. before that.
What website do i start looking at next for the best deals?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks0 -
You seem to get different responses from different call centres? I had to call 4times before getting a friendly face, so took her number and will call her back once I decide what deal I want. It's worth the wait, as some have finally come away with good deals after some persistance. Not the way it should be, I agree, but seems to be the norm now:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Saving myself about £7 a month off the line rental, on a £35 contract0

Just got myself the Tocco (free & finally back in stock) for £27 with 1200mins, 1000texts and unlimited web bolt on. Happy enough with it as that seems to be what everyone on here is being offered0
