02 Retentions thread 2

Rang back retentions to try and exchange some minutes and texts in return for a free phone, it was a no go. Apparantly the phone is so new that on my tariff they can't give me it for free. I could get the phone for free but that would mean paying £75 p/m - I don't think so, so my offer stands at
1200 minutes
1000 texts
free bolt on (which I will probably pick internet usage)
£27
Free LG Secret
£49.99 LG renoir.
I could get the tocco for free but they were unsure when it would be back in, she said try on monday and they would know more then. Will go to a phone shop over the weekend to have a look at both models before making a decision. I don't mind paying £50 but it would have to have some pretty good features.0 -

I think the Renoir is worth the £49.99
End of the review:
This is quite simply one of the best phones I've seen in ages. Its camera tops the i8510, though it still isn't up to what you'd get from an 8-megapixel dedicated digicam and is not itself a reason to buy. But the range of additional features is excellent, and very importantly, overall user ergonomics are excellent. LG just nosed in front in a very competitive race.0 -
The more helpful retentions people I've spoken to have all told me that the iPhone is the one model they can't apply loyalty discounts to. I've been recommended to wait for the Samsung Pixon and the LG Renoir or the X1 (when it makes itself available anyway), which they say they can give discounts for when the time comes.
The Renoir's feature set does look good. At the price it's being offered, helen5352 I'd take it unless some other network offered it more cheaply. It's not a smartphone which means it has both fewer capabilities and fewer problems....0 -

Decided to accept the offer with the renoir, like the look of the phone and the offer can't be matched or bettered anywhere else unless I go on a massive tariff. Rang retentions and before the lady checked my account she asked me which phone I had been offered because many phones have gone out of stock this morning! Luckily they still had the renoir and it should be with me within 3 working days so I'm happy. At the end of the day if I don't like it I can send it back!
Have to say though, I agree with the majority of people on here - upgrades are useless, they couldn't help me at all and only seemed to give me the wrong information plus they didn't even seem to want to help me - not that I was bothered because it actually gave me some fuel when talking to retention. Retentions were always very good, everyone I spoke to was more than helpful0 -
Just thought I would add my recent experiance of O2 ! My 18 month O2 contract is now up and since it ended I've been on the sim only £15 P/M deal which suites me just fine but as my phone is slowly giving up the ghost I thought I would go out and look for the best deal I could get on a new contract. After a bit of shopping around and much arm twisting I ended up in my local Phones 4U shop and was offered the following deal :-
2 year contract on Orange, £20 P/M with 200 mins and unlimited txts and a free Nokia 6220.
I thought this was the deal for me so I said I would take them up on thier offer, the salesman in the shop said he'd phone O2 to get the PAC code in order to move my number over to the new phone. The call was made and after the salesman explained the sittuation the phone was handed to me and the O2 person I spoke to asked why I wanted to leave O2 so I explained that it was because after phoneing them a few times it was clear that they couldnt or wouldnt match the deal I was offered by the shop ! At this point the person said if I went outside the shop and phoned O2 they would beat the deal I had been offered by phones 4U, although I was annoyed having being put in a difficult position I did as advised and left the shop after explaining to salesman what was said on the phone. Once I phoned O2 back it quickly became clear that there was no way they were going to beat the deal I'd been offered in the store and they just try'd offering me phones and tariff's I didnt want. After leaving the person in no doubt as to the way I felt about what had just happened I asked them to send me the PAC code which I was told I would receive by text within 48 hours. Upon going back in the shop to accept the deal they offered I soon found out that they had made a mistake and couldnt sale me the deal I was offered ! I am absolutely furious with O2 and not very impressed with Phones 4U and after all the messing about I'm still left with my sim only deal and a phone that is slowly giving up the ghost.

I'm considering buying a unlocked or O2 network phone from ebay and just putting my sim card in it but I'm not sure about buying a phone this way, any helpfull advice or suggestions realy appreciated.0 -
I am on a silver band - whatever that may mean
But today finally got some sense out of someone. Blackberry Bold £49.99 for the handset, 1200 minutes, 1000 texts, unlimited blackberry usage as my bolt on, discounted down from £45 to £30 a month for an 18 month contract and the handset is half price.
Would have liked the handset for free but cant complain as I am saving money on my curent tarrif anyway!! Not to mention whole family is on 02 now so moving them all would be a hassle.....
So perserverance seems to be the key - that and hoping 02 gets stock at the right time!Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I spoke to o2 again today regarding the Sony Ericsson c905. Apparently it's 'out of stock' again, and is expected in on Monday after 3pm, so I have to call back then to get any deals. Asked the girl what sort of offer they could make me.
I was offered 600mins and unlimited texts (normally £35pm) down to £25pm, but the phone costs £100. Still a saving on what I have been paying, and cheaper/less hassle than getting the same phone or the Samsung i8510 which was my second choice through carphone warehouse, so think I will call them on Monday and take them up on the offer - seems like the best I'll get.
I am going to try and be a bit cheeky and do my very best to push them into either dropping the price further or adding another bolt-on onto the tariff... we shall see.
I do still find it ridiculous that they can't offer the phone free on this tariff yet cpw and others can - pointed it out to the lady, and she just said 'well we can't match that'. One more go, and then I'm settling, I think...0 -
Hi,
As a Simplicity online 200 customer for nine months, I called up yesterday to try and sort an upgrade to an Xperia X1.
I asked for my PAC code, saying I was thinking about moving over to Vodaphone to get X1, and was told that they would be able to offer me a great deal - at least £15 off advertised tariffs - in January, when I was in my eleventh month. I thought this strange as my contract is one month, but the CSA said something about them 'putting aside' a certain amount of your bill every month to offset against later discount. Sounded dubious.
Anyway, in the end the best he could offer me was £5 off my monthly bill until January, and there was no transfer through to retentions.
Worth calling again, or does the eleventh month rule also apply to one month customers?0 -
