After having no luck with o2 retentions, i went to CPW yesterday to upgrade to the new SE c905 phone which gives me 600 mins anytime unlimited txts and free internet access all for £35 pm. (This was for a 18 month contract by the way).

I still can't believe that o2 couldn't do anything for me other than charge me either £49.99 or £99.99 for the same phone on either £35 tariff or £45 tariff. No customer loyalty bonus what so ever!.

  • I had a thought (and I apologise if someone has already said it), are you offered a better deal if you actually get your PAC code? The reason I ask is that a month ago I wanted a few phone and a discount of some sort but was told that as I had not been with O2 for 11 months I wasnt entitled to one. Once I received my PAC code I got a call from O2 who offered me a deal I wanted. In the end, I took it up but cancelled it and went back to my Simplicity. I'm trying to do the same thing now though and after speaking to O2 retentions, they couldnt do anything at all so I've ordered my PAC code in the hope I get something better. Also, lets not forget that just because you've got your PAC code, you dont have to use it so that can be used as a bargaining tool

Ive taken a simplicity deal for the meanwhile, but will I still be able to upgrade after my initial 30days are up?

  • I switched to Simplicity on one of my accounts for the same reason, and now they won't offer me any loyalty discounts! x

oh, i always assumed that once you got your PAC code that that was the termination of your contract.. (which takes a month i believe)

Your contract terminates when you actually USE your PAC code so it does no harm in simply ordering it and leaving it to expire after 30 days

    Yipee!

Called today as I was due for an upgrade. Had been paying £25 per month for 200 mins and 200 texts for the last 2 18 month contracts. I decided to give Martin's money saving tips a go this time and this was the result:

Asked what the best deals were from a member of the upgrade team, and got offered myriad contracts with cashback deals. Not what I was looking for at all as my aim was to get down to as small a monthly payment as possible, around 10 pounds. so I got put through to disconnections and the outcome is that I have been given 400 texts and 400 minutes for 10 pounds a month on an 18 month contract.

I am very very happy with this result :T. And so grateful that I read the advice on this website, both Martin's and on the forum, otherwise I would have just rung up as usual and accepted what I'd been offered rather than negotiating a better deal.

If that's similar to the simplicity deal, it will go up to £15 after 6months. What phone did you get with it?

  • I've had a nightmare day yesterday trying to upgrade, but there doesn't seem to be anything about at the moment. So i've had my line rental dropped down to £10 p/m until i find a deal that i like.

I was after the XDA Ignito, but its a no go....... they want £99 for it on a £20 p/m contract with 600 mins/ unlimited txt and internet use. My boss got it, his wife got it.... now they tell me its not on offer anymore

so i'll wait for a couple of weeks....... or could i go into the O2 shop and get a deal even though my contract was done online ???

This was not mentioned in the phone call at any point, so naturally if the paperwork comes through with this detail on then I'll call them straight up and say it's not good enough.

Didn't require a new phone so didn't get one...
