Is it a dead cert that they don't do the Omnia? I know its not on their website but I've rang up for upgrades before that weren't on their site and been sucessful. Bottom line is I won't be renewing with them if they insist I need to go onto an 18month contract, I'm flexible on the phone as long as its decent, N95, C905, Omnia, etc....

O2 don't have the omnia at all, they are going to be doing the new Pixon which is the newer version of it with an 8mp camera, although like some other phones just out, retentions more than likely wont be offering any discounts on it.

Back to the drawing board then I guess! Can anyone recommend an upgrade for me? I want a 3g phone to be able to browse the internet on the move.

O2 don't have the Omnia so you will have to buy one separately or go with a different company if you want that. I think they are pretty stuck on 18 month contracts as a minimum these days. It doesn't hurt to call and find out, but they wont be able to help you until the last 30 days of your contract so you will have to wait until then before calling.
I would quote the 3 deal that is still running of 500 mins and unlimited texts for 25 quid a month on a twelve month contract and see what they say, they should at least match it, especially if you have been with them for a while.
  • Dear all, I have been with o2 for a few years now and last year (through this site) I managed to get a few quids off my monthly contract.
I was now writing to ask about the best strategy to adopt to get a similar deal. Any good ideas out there? I was sticking with o2 mainly because I get some 1000 off peak minutes which I use (along with calling card, since they now charge for 0845 numbers!) to ring my ex-pat relatives in Spain!

    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated

Should also add that my contract as been up for renewal a couple of weeks now.

    Tom.

Im in the same boat and getting nowhere with o2. I have emailed them twice and got the same automated reply, rung them twice and been told Im not a high enough user to do a deal for??? A customer is a customer surely, just because Im sensible with my mobile bill doesn't mean I should be ignored?! I have been with them around 10years (since the days of Genie), and always had a contract but this year they just dont seem to care.

I hope you get a decent offer, but by the sounds of other threads here, you have to request your PAC code to get offered a better deal :(

I tried that yesterday, and said I can get an Omnia via Vodaphone, free phone, 12month deal and 200mins 500 texts for £35. They will not do the Omnia, they cant offer a 12month deal fullstop and wont budge a millimeter on an iPhone deal. The Pixon (out on the 4th) they have NO information on, so cant even speculate if it will be a reasonable deal or not. The Tocco is basically the same as the iPhone deals, but they are just not willing to negotiate

I think that if you want a high end phone then you aren't going to be able to get it on a 12 month contract. A high end pay as you go model should be possible if they are still doing 12 month deals to existing customers;).

After having has a cracking deal on my first contract I've just made my first call to retentions for my second contract to see what was on offer.

Wasn't asked my name, phone number etc. to look at the account or anything! We just had a general conversation (in which I asked about what smartphones they could offer) and I was told that I could have an iPhone or XDA Ignito on a £45 per month tariff!

Alternative was to go onto Simplicity with no discount...

Bizarre how these offers can differ so much.

2nd try today - and got nowhere again.

Apparently there was no record of me having rang previously and the lady I spoke to was completely unaware that the Serra existed and that it was coming out on O2. She even asked me if it was a Blackberry!

I asked for my PAC and it's on its way. I hope to be pleasantly surprised by a call from the winback team but I'm not counting on it this time. Pity...
