Am after new Sony X1 and have been on Talk Online 35 for 18 months with average spend of £80-£100 per month. Have been told they will add me to the waitlist and best deal they can give me is :
"Tariff £45.00 1200 mins 1000 text then you can choose free bolt on which can be free web, free landline calls, free weekend calls orfree 02calls you have to choose one if wanitng more the you pay 7.50 extra"
Have to pay £50 for phone and they will then look at discounting line rental by up to £10, thoughts please?0 -
After having has a cracking deal on my first contract I've just made my first call to retentions for my second contract to see what was on offer.
Wasn't asked my name, phone number etc. to look at the account or anything! We just had a general conversation (in which I asked about what smartphones they could offer) and I was told that I could have an iPhone or XDA Ignito on a £45 per month tariff!
Alternative was to go onto Simplicity with no discount...
Bizarre how these offers can differ so much.0 -

I've been with O2 through the Carphone Warehouse for about 4 years now and was on a £25 a month contract. Last year I managed to blag the newly released N95 on the same £25 contract (got all the way to receiving my PAC code by text before they relented) and this time the only way I could get the X1 for free was to increase my tariff to £30 a month (24 month contract).
It seems that CPW does better deals than O2 direct. The only tips I can give you is to not give up on the first phone call, try calling again and again until you get the deal you want. It's worked for me over the years with all the major operators (apart from Vodafone, those guys just don't want to do deals!)0 -
wooooohoooooooooo!!
Just called retentions, got a very nice Liverpool man, got the W980 on the £30 tariff - 400 minutes & 1000 texts and a £10 discount every month for the 18 month contract!.........blimey0 -
Get me that man's name and telephone number! I am having nothing but hassle trying to upgrade. Got a reply to my email enquiry and all it basically said was 'This is the tariffs we do, and we can't comment on those offered by other providers'. Nothing about compromise, nothing about trying to keep the customer happy and nothing to inspire me to renew with O2:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. I had no luck at all with the normal O2, just same deal with an upgrade only to SE W890i which I didn't want......so she put me through to retentions and I explained that I was happy to stay with O2 but didn't want the phone I'd been offered, said I'd like W980 or the 902 one, he came back with that deal....well chuffed!0

I phoned Carphone Warehouse last Friday (this was the 5th call I made) and managed to get the Sony X1 for free with 600 minutes, 1000 txts and unlimited web for £30 a month. Admittedly it was a 24 month contract but can drop the tariff from month 9 to £25, then to £20 but still keep the unlimited browsing. There are deals to be had, just persevere
Would you have not considered the Vodafone deal with Quidco and ported your number? The vodafone deal works out at £35 per month.0 -
In the end I've gone for the 600mins/1000txtx/unlimited web with free C902 for £20 a month, will probably sell the C902 and use it to pay for my C905 (which is coming on Saturday on my 12mth contract w/Vodafone)... Quite happy with that really, keeps me as Silver customer with the option to go to Gold if I start spending a bit more.0

Do what with the silver and gold customer? How do you find out if you're gold, silver, bronze or tin?!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things.
