Lloyds Group allowing multi brand branch access

I feel like this is the beginning of the end of LBG’s multi brand strategy. Certainly I can’t imagine Halifax still being around in England & Wales in the medium term.

So in the future there will only one app/website for all LBG Banks or for example on Lloyds app/website you will be able to see all your accounts with Halifax?0

It makes sense. I used to bank with Lloyds and had a Halifax nearby, yet had to go on a 20 min ride to reach the Lloyds.
i don’t think this means the brands are going. All the banks run on the same system and have done for years. They are just opening the doors to each other.2 -
I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches. It's ridiculous having two sets of branches in an age where most people bank online.
They all seem to be closely linked behind the scenes anyway. The website and app are virtually identical, and when i filled in the online form to handle my late fathers Lloyd's account I could use my Halifax account to confirm my id.1 -
It will also mean that you will get better support for Lloyds Bank accounts in Scotland and Bank of Scotland accounts in England and Wales.3

Can't RBS and NatWest customers use each others branches?
Having said that, a very long time ago I recall using Midland Bank branches as a Clydesdale Bank customer. I have a Lloyds account but live in Scotland and although some basic things like paying into your Lloyds Account was possible, opening a new account or product with the Lloyds brand wasn’t and they were focused on Bank of Scotland so now I’m guessing that you will have a choice of brand.
in my opinion, it’s probably time to retire the Halifax brand for current accounts etc and just keep it for Mortgages and move everyone over to Lloyds.0 -
